BAND BIO
The hills of Northern
PA are an unforgiving place.
Hailing from a small town called
Ridgway, PA, the CW3 exudes
a toughness and desperation
that can only be cultivated in
the working class environs
from which they hail. Their
driving brand of groove-rock is
reminiscent of the Black Crowes
and The Allman Brothers Band,
coupled with the blunt force of
Pearl Jam.
Powered by the rhythm
section of Rad Akers on Drums
(Big Leg Emma) and Dave Fink
on Bass (That Dog In Egypt),
Charlie Wheeler describes
his trio as a “song first” type
of band.
While expansive,
improvisational jamming is a key
component to their live show,
their third album, Rewind, is a
solid group of structured songs
which allow Wheeler to tear into
his vocal and lead guitar work
with reckless, pent up hostility.
“The reformation of the
band as a trio has been quite
liberating,” explains Wheeler.
“While I loved collaborating,
traveling and jamming with
Greek (ex lead singer Greek
Cheronis), playing in this trio has
helped me find my true voice as
a song-writer and a guitarist, as
well as a lead vocalist. It’s been
very challenging, but playing
with Rad and Dave, it sure
makes it easier.”
The band’s first two
albums, Highway Run (2008)
and Line ‘Em Up! (2012), were
recorded in a 5-piece format
with many different tones and
textures. The occasional horn,
harmonica or synth voice used
as backing tracks made for a
very big sound. Additionally,
Cheronis’
voice
was
an
undeniable force. This third
offering, Rewind, released on
Wheeler’s birthday, March 30,
2015 uses a much more basic
approach. Relying solely on
bass, guitar, drums and vocals,
Wheeler, along with Producer
and Engineer Anthony Brown
of Graphite Studios in Warren,
PA, opted to make an album
with “more mud on your boots
and grit on your hands,” as
Wheeler states. Rewind uses
solid songs, a healthy dose
of aggressiveness and an
organized looseness that comes
together to form an album that is
great for tailgates and workouts,
and generally makes you want
to drive your car too fast.
Charlie Wheeler Trio has
played BB King’s, Whiskey River
(Dale Jr’s Club in Charlotte),
Kenny’s Castaways in NYC, The
Lafayette Tap Room in Buffalo
and many other regional venues
and festivals. They have opened
for The Gin Blossoms, Jimmy
Thackery, Anthony Gomes,
Walter Trout, Ekoostik Hookah,
Devon Allman (Gregg’s Son),
and many others. The Trio is
currently playing live regionally
in support of their newest album.

ALBUMS
Rewind
Charlie Wheeler Trio
Release Date: 2015
Reconstituted as a power trio, the band uses a much more open
production format on their third album REWIND. As with all Charlie
Wheeler albums, the songs are the centerpiece, creating spaces
where the listener can rock out, sing along or simply just chill. Charlie
takes over on the vocals and pushes in a more soulful, bluesy way
than in albums past. There is no shortage of muscle on this album,
as Wheeler’s guitar work adds tasteful fills to solid song-writing.
Line ‘Em Up
Charlie Wheeler Band
Release Date: 2012
No sophomore slump here! Using much of the same recipe from their
debut album, CWB employs strong songs as the centerpiece of the
album, LINE ‘EM UP. CWB shows that the band is unafraid to use
every ounce of soul and energy to create a knock down, drag out
rock n’ roll album much like the early Black Crowes and Pearl Jam
albums. Again, the combination of Wheeler and Cheronis creates a
chemical reaction that ignites the band.
Highway Run
Charlie Wheeler Band
Release Date: 2008
Charlie Wheeler Band’s debut album, HIGHWAY RUN features the
powerful combination of Greek Cheronis on Lead Vocals and Charlie
Wheeler on Lead Guitar. The album truly crosses genres, with a style
influenced by southern rock, the blues, grunge, jamband and even a
bit of rockabilly. There is a muscular structure to this albums songs
and has received much critical acclaim.

PRESS & MEDIA
“There is always room for this type of straight
ahead rock and roll. Charlie plays with such
emotion and passion that it is impossible not to
pay attention.”
– DJ Bob Felberg, WVOF FM
“Highway Run is chock-full of hard rocking blues
guitar and soulful and passionate vocals. I was
shocked at how accomplished a band that I
never heard of was. Truly a blues diamond in the
rough.”
– George Dionne, rock-is-life.com
“If you love proper rock music, you’ll love this
album. We need more groups like this to bring
back real music.”
– DJ Alan MusicHare, BCRFP, UK live365.com
“If you you still want some of that ‘down south
jukin’, then this is your band. Since Lynyrd
Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet, no bands have come
along to claim that great southern rock sound….
until now.”
– RIF Radio Commentary
“Highway Run…is a good mix of driving guitars
and harp. The rhythm lays down a pulsing beat
that just grabs me….real music by real people…
Charlie and the band rock with an honesty that is
missing in today’s music”
