A heartfelt thank you to the Rozmarin parents for their
dedication, hard work and financial assistance. Also to
Marianna Beno and Anna Dobos, our wonderful teachers, for
their unfailing belief, patience and commitment.
To Marie Prevoo for designing & donating a vibrant,
colourful and fun piece of art for our group, which we used to
design the front of the program.

THE TRADITION CONTINUES…
The Windsor Slovak Rozmarin Dance Group was formed in
1973 with 35 young girls and boys as dancers and Miss Cathy
Dobias as their choreographer.
The Windsor Slovak Rozmarin Dancers have continued the
tradition to this day. Through the years, Rozmarin has
contributed much to our community. Hundreds of Slovaks
have been its members, learning and preserving Slovak
folklore. As mentioned, this is the 35th season of our
continued Slovak presence in Windsor. During these many
seasons, Rozmarin has represented Windsor across Ontario at
festivals and other occasions. They have had hundreds of
performances for Slovaks and non-Slovaks alike. They have
also represented us in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Quebec and
Florida. Rozmarin has also visited and performed in Slovakia
on two separate occasions.
Within Essex County, Rozmarin has shared the Slovak
culture in many ways. One avenue has been participation in
multicultural activities such as Carrousel, Expo and Heritage
week. Rozmarin has performed at Public libraries,
Community Centers, Nursing Homes, Schools and at other
local events. This is just a glimpse of the magnitude of
Rozmarin’s contribution.
The Windsor Slovak Rozmarin Dancers are an independent,
self-supporting, non-profit organization. They are proud of
their heritage and share it in song and dance. May we
continue the tradition together for at least another 35 years!

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
On behalf of the dancers and parents of Rozmarin, I’d like to
extend a warm welcome to all of you this afternoon. Thank you for
joining us today to celebrate both Mother’s Day as well as the 35th
anniversary of Windsor Slovak Rozmarin Dancers.
The Windsor Slovak Rozmarin Dancers were established in
1973. The group’s foundation was based on the dreams of newcomers
to Canada, hoping to carry on their tradition and culture. Through
the years Rozmarin became not only a dance group, but also a group
of friends and dedicated families who strive to preserve the Slovak
heritage in order to pass it on to the young generation and to
introduce it to the Windsor community and beyond.
Today, as in the past, the role of the group is to promote the
Slovak identity and culture through song and dance. We are
extremely proud of our young dancers and extend a special ‘thank
you’ to the teachers, Marianna Beno and Ana Dobos for their
devotion, dedication and never-ending patience.
The Rozmarin dancers are undoubtedly encouraged by your
attendance at their events and sincerely appreciate your continuous
support. Without the supporters and collective hard work of all the
parents, this group’s dreams would not be possible.
Today’s special event is the highlight of the Rozmarin’s 2008
season. The dancers are eager to showcase their talent in new
routines that will be performed for you today, and we trust that you
will enjoy the performance. The upcoming months will certainly be
a very busy and exiting time for Rozmarin, as the dancers will be
attending the Carrousel Villages in Windsor, Expo by the River and
one of the biggest heritage festivals in Scarborough at the end of
June.
In closing, I would like to sincerely thank all of the parents,
teachers and children for their hard work. Many thanks to our
generous sponsors and to Sts. Cyril’s Parish for their numerous
contributions and support. We look forward to and are delighted
while we wait in anticipation of the many new wonderful adventures
ahead.
Sincerely,
Vera Potocek
