Foyer Panel 1 - Glen Tanar Charitable Trust
Some of Deeside’s finest native pine forest
and moorland is right here in Glen Tanar:
nearly half the estate is a National Nature
Reserve. There are three National Nature
Reserves on Deeside, and nine in and around
the Cairngorms National Park. All the reserves
have been set up to protect the best of the
area’s wildlife and landscapes while also
welcoming visitors.

Glen Tanar is home to a lively community too.
Most people who live here work on helping
visitors enjoy their stay, looking after the
buildings, or managing the forest, moorland,
rivers and farmland.

The sheltered valley and its surrounding hills
have been a family-owned estate for hundreds
of years. It’s been owned by the current family
since 1905: they run the estate as a modern
business, making best use of the land while
looking after it for the future.
