Description: Skews, knifes, balls, spears, loops, shaders, spooners, standard or

reveal the mystery behind the tools and techniques of wood burning on a gourd.
A beginner or practiced, I have tips you can use to improve your burning skills.
There is a two-page hand-out with all my resources and tips to keep note taking to a minimum. A lively,
informative discussion where all questions are explored brings along new knowledge for us all.
Afterwards, I will introduce you to the writing tip. I will show you how this tip can help you add shading to
the pattern without using a color medium. This technique does take layering and focus, but it is not difficult.
We will be working on a small practice gourd which I will supply. You won’t master the technique with this
gourd, but you will go home knowing the process.
The design will come from my recent book, Doodling Borders for Wood burning. I will have a handout of
these pattern instructions. If you already own a copy, bring it for an autograph! I will have copies if you wish
to purchase one after class.
