Little Women: The Musicalis based on
LouisaMay Alcott's classicr869 novel about
the four March sisters and their cherished
Marmee as they are faced with the struggles
of life during the American CivilWar. Little
Women: The Musicalwill be performed Feb.
17,18,24,and 25 at 8 p.m.,as well as Feb.t9

Caitlin is in the cast of Little Women: The

tour of Damn Yankees.

Naomi Baker,
assistant professor

was recently
honored at the 44th
KennedyCenter
American College
Theater Festivalwith
an award
acknowledgingher
extraordinary
respondentwork and
her dedicationto
KCACTF
Regionll.
Professor Baker attended this festival at lndiana
Universityof Pennsylvaniaon Jan. 11-i5with rl
students and Professor Joe Dawson.KCACTFis a
nationwideorganizationwith eight regions.The
festival'smain purpose is to celebrateand
encourage collegetheater.
The chair of Regionll, Elizabethvan den Berg,
initiallyapproachedNaomi about creating an
Actingr/DirectingTask Force. To familiarizeherself
with the region,Naomi traveled,viewed shows and
presentedfeedback to over 30 productions in the
past five years. In addition to chairingthe Acting/
DirectingTask Force,Naomi created a new initiative
within Regionll this year called"The Project for
DevisedTheatre." "Devisedtheatre," also called
"ensemble"or "collaborativetheatre," is a piece of
theatre created by an ensemblewithout benefit of a
formal script.
The trip to KCACTFRegionalFestivalwas funded in
part by a grant from the Wilkes MentorshipTask
Force.

The story of Detroit is one of the most
s i g n i f i c a n t r e p r e s e n t a t i o n so f a n a t i o n i n
transition. lt is the place where Ryan
S p e n c e r R e e d , a s a p h o t o g r a p h e r ,b e g a n
a n a n t h r o p o l o g i c a le x p l o r a t i o n i n s p r i n g
zoog. This is a story about things left
b e h i n dp a i n t e dw i t h a h e a v yh e a r t b y d i m
and murky light - a story told amidst the
d e a t h o f t h e A m e r i c a nl n d u s t r i a l
Revolution.
Like the structures depicted,the
photographs are intended as artifacts of

Early owners of Roesen's

taste and status in a very
visible way. This interior
decorating convention
