STEP
Installation in a Rack
The rack rail needs to be attached to the rack and the ETERNUS DX Disk storage system mounted.
-Installation- "Chapter 3 Rack Installation"
IMPORTANT ●●Multiple Drive Enclosures must be connected to the controller enclosure following the order of the
"DE_No. label" numbers attached to each Drive Enclosure. The position of the labels are in the
positions shown below.
Right front side of the drive enclosure
Rear upper side of the drive enclosure
DE_No. labels
●●Mount enclosures and other devices by starting from the bottom of the rack and work upward. Tall
racks (such as the 40U/36U) have a higher center of gravity and anti-toppling measures are required.
1.Adjust the rack rail size to fit the rack.
2.Attach the rack rails to the rack.
The size of the ETERNUS DX Disk storage
system is 2U.
The M5 screw positions for the rack rails are determined relative to the enclosure base line.
Insert the M5 screws in the 1st and 6th holes on the front rack pillars above the base line and in the 2nd
and 5th holes on the rear rack pillars above the base line as shown in the figures below:
14

1.Install the drive enclosure in the rack.
IMPORTANT Make sure to install or remove the enclosure to or from the rack by two or more people.
2.Fix the drive enclosure in the rack.
