Handicaps
Each team will consist of one foursome. In order to
achieve some degree of parity among the teams
and to mitigate as much as possible the vagaries of
handicaps, the guidelines for team composition will
be a modified version of that used for the Oldsmobile Scramble. The Olds Scramble is a nationally
known competition based on qualifying teams from
clubs throughout the country. The basis for team
handicaps is provided in the chart on the right.
Each team will have a maximum Summit Academy Team handicap allowed of minus ten (-10). No
team will have a Summit Academy Team handicap
greater than plus 9 (+9).
All team members should have a USGA handicap.
If a team member does not have one, they will be
assigned a Summit Academy Golf Classic handicap by Ed Bialek, Oak Ridge Golf Professional.
The Winner
The winner will be determined as the team with the lowest score.
For purposes of determining the Net Division winners, a team’s
score will be its 18 hole gross score less the team’s Summit Academy Golf Classic handicap. For purposes of determining the Gross
Division winner, a team’s score will be its 18 hole gross score of the
foursome. The Gross Division winning team will be determined first
and will not participate in the Net Division prizes. All ties are decided
by a count back, starting at hole 18.
