During Monday’s meeting, the Zoning Board of Appeals upheld the Building Department’s finding that a proposed new trailer sales business at 874
Memorial Ave. is not a permitted use
under the current zoning regulations for
a Business A (BA) zoning district.
The zoning ordinance states that the
purpose of a Business A district is to
provide areas for a wide range of retail

Professional wrestler Bob Backlund
was at the West Springfield Public Library Thursday afternoon, June 23, as
part of the AuthorTalk program to discuss his new book called “Backlund:

book details his journey into the world of
professional wrestling and the principles
he followed to get there.
Mr. Backlund is best known for his

time with the World Wrestling Federation (now known as World Wrestling
Entertainment) when from 1978 to 1983
he was the world heavyweight champion and the face of the company.
Maybe just as impressive of an
achievement is the fact that in an industry that is full of temptations, drugs, and
alcohol, Mr. Backlund, at least in the
public eye, seems to have avoided those
pitfalls.

wetlands.
Assistant Superintendent Kevin
McQuillan presented commission members with a diagram of the High School
property which showed what areas
would be mowed and when that mowing
would take place. The diagram was put
together with the help of an architect
