Dear Families,
My own kids’ first camping experience at SpringHill was at a Family Camp. We all remember the
great time we had together, swimming and climbing, praying and worshipping, and enjoying the
change from our regular routines. As a dad, I know the lasting impact that weekend had on each
of us, and on our family.
Family camp is kind of like a spiritual reset button. It’s a place where kids are expecting to talk
about Jesus. They’re expecting to do devotions, to hang out with mom or dad, and to do things
they don’t normally do. And it provides the perfect environment to try again, and exercise those
spiritual muscles.
At family camp, moms and dads can initiate spiritual conversations with children. They can begin a
new pattern of daily, family devotionals. They begin again to model the kinds of character and
behaviors that kids long to see in their parents. And even if they haven’t done these things in a
while, your kids won’t think you’re weird… they’ll think you’re a superhero!

This packet is loaded with information designed to be a helpful resource for you and your family as
you prepare for your time at SpringHill. Please take time to read through the materials provided
and pray for your time at camp.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
Children of any age are welcome to join you for Main Sessions.
Childcare
Age-appropriate care is provided as an option for our youngest guests during Main Sessions (ages
0 through kindergarten) by our incredible staff. Times are published in the schedule above. Please
make dropping off and picking up your children a priority when planning your schedule before and
after sessions.
Drop-off is up to 15 minutes prior to Main Sessions in the Game Room, upstairs from the Gym.
SUNDAY NIGHT LIVE
Main session on Sunday night will be held in the outdoor amphitheater (weather allowing). Sunday
Night Live is a session that meshes more skits, popcorn, and some classic camp elements with
the worship and speaker.
Our theme this year is super heroes! We encourage your family to come prepared with super
hero costumes to wear throughout the weekend, and specifically to Sunday Night Live. We look
forward to seeing what your family comes up with, and how you answer the timeless question:

HELPFUL HINTS FOR FAMILIES
FOLLOW THE CODE OF CONDUCT AND CAMPING RULES

Swimming is only allowed in our lakes and pools when a life guard is present. Please do
not swim or boat in any of the lakes unless at an activity supervised by a SpringHill
lifeguard.

Once you have moved in to your housing, please park your vehicle for the remainder of the
weekend. Driving of vehicles, ATVs, UTVs, etc. is only permitted when you are using the
vehicle to enter or exit the property. Park only in lots, not on the roads or in front of housing
units. Do not park in fire lanes at the Welcome Center or Gymnasium, behind the New
Frontiers Kitchen, in either skate park drives, by the Copper Country Dining Hall or in Front
of the Infirmary.

Recreational use of motorbikes, ATV’s and UTV’s is not permitted on camp property, nor
are they to be used to travel to and from activities on camp. Licensed drivers may drive to
and from their campsite from the main entrance only. Nearby state land is available for
recreational use, and township roads are open to ATV travel. Please follow all state and
local laws regarding their safe use.

No driving of any kind of vehicle or bike is permitted on or around the Tubing Hill.

Use of the skate parks is only permitted with an appropriate helmet and pads, and either
supervised by a parent or guardian or during a scheduled activity period with a SpringHill
Staff member present.

SpringHill recognizes that pets are part of your family and are allowed during Family Camp
Weekends. Pets are not allowed in any SpringHill building including housing units and
dining halls. Please clean up after your pet, and keep them on a leash at all times.

Alcoholic beverages and non-prescription addictive drugs are not welcome at SpringHill.

Smoking is not allowed in any of the buildings.

Anyone with personal firearms must lock them in their vehicle, not in the housing units.

All lost and found items can be found in the bins located in the Welcome Center, Gym
Foyer, Endeavor Center and the Water Slide & Storybrook Bathhouse.
STUDY THE MAP
With more than 900 acres of property, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself and your family with
the camp’s layout. You will also find camp maps, as well as directional signs to help you walk
around camp and get where you’re going.
ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS
That’s the best way to get started. Ask lots of questions, we will give you lots of answers. We want
you to have a stress-free weekend where your only responsibility is to have a blast with your family.

OUR SPEAKERS AND WORSHIP LEADERS
PAT ROWLAND
Pat is the Family Ministries Pastor at Woodside Bible
Church in Troy, MI. He and his wife Mandy, who he met in
junior high youth group, have three daughters.
"Family is a high value, not saying the highest," says Pat,
"but it's up there for me and Mandy. It starts with
intentionally investing in a healthy marriage, and it flows to
discipling our daughters. We believe faith is best developed
in the home in partnership with the church."
SING LOVE WORSHIP
Sing Love is a group of worship leaders from all
over the country. Their vision is to lead people into
the throne room of God and then step out of the
way so everyone can experience the love and
glory of Jesus Christ. Sing Love consists of 20+
(and counting) worship leaders who have a
passion to lift up the name of Jesus through music
and art. Sing Love can look and feel very
differently from one event to another, but what
remains true about the band is wherever they go
they will glorify the name of Christ with every
chance they get.

SIGNUP ACTIVITIES
Signup for activities will be held under the Gym Awning on Friday night from 7:00-10:00pm and on
Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8:30-10:45am. After 10:45am, activity signup will continue in
the Welcome Center until all activities are filled. Activities fill on a first come, first serve basis.
Horseback Riding, ages 7+
$15 (sign-up required)
Outback Trail Ride, ages 12+
Explore the trails of SpringHill on the back of a horse. We’ll saddle them up, and you get to ride!
For your safety, closed toe shoes, and long pants are required. Children younger than 7 will not be
permitted to participate in trail rides. Pony rides are provided free of charge for children under 7.

Paintball
Gear up for a different adventure in the woods with a paintball marker and moving targets (a. k. a.
your friends and siblings)! For your safety, long pants and long sleeves are required.

River Canoeing
$30 per canoe (sign-up required)
Grab your family and join us for a 3-hour adventure on the Muskegon River. We’ll provide
transportation to and from the river, a lifeguard, and all the equipment you’ll need for a great day
relaxing on the river. Along the way you’ll see beautiful scenery and bountiful wildlife. Each canoe
can accommodate up to 2 adults and 1 child.
For your safety, life jackets are provided and must be worn the entire time you are on the river.
OPEN ACTIVITIES
These activities will be available as “show-up,” which means you can participate whenever the
activity is scheduled open and staffed. If it requires an additional fee, you may pay at the activity. If
you prefer to pay with a credit or debit card, you may purchase vouchers in the Trading Post.
A $10 blue Water Band will give you unlimited access to all premium water activities. A $25 yellow
High Adventure Band gives you unlimited access to all High Adventure activities. A green
Combination Band is available for $30. (Wristbands do not apply to sign-up activities.)
Frisbee Golf Course
Free
Explore Storybrook by taking a walk around our disc golf course. The entire course takes about 90
minutes, but you can easily cut the last holes to shorten up on time. Maps are available at the first
tee-off location next to the white building across from the soccer field.

Indoor Pool with Water Slides
Check out our newly renovated indoor pool with dueling spiral waterslides.
Petting Farm
Free
Visit the ranch and say hello to our chickens, rabbits, goats, llama, miniature horse and donkey.
Pony Rides
Free
This is a great way for our younger campers, age 4-12, to experience some time on horseback as
they’re led around the petting farm area.

Lake Canoeing & Kayaking
Free
Enjoy some time navigating Lake Jasper in a canoe or kayak.
For your safety, this activity is only open when scheduled and staffed, and life jackets are provided
and must be worn the entire time you are on the water.
Storybrook Spray Park
Free
Cool off and laugh with your kids in this magical play area. This activity is always available during
daylight hours, just push the red button to turn on the water. Perfect for younger campers.
Storybrook Water Castle
Free
The Water Castle provides tons of fun for kids of all ages to swing, climb, jump and splash in
Storybrook Lake.
Copper Country Outdoor Pool and Waterslide
Water Band required for slide.
The heated outdoor pool is also the splash zone for Michigan’s third-longest waterslide.
Mighty Gusher
Water Band required.
This is 126 feet of gushing water. Spin, twist and shoot your way into the lake below.
Blobs
Water Band required.
Climb out onto one of the blobs and have a friend launch you into the air… and the water.

If the mountain calls your name or you just want to be like Spiderman, our climbing towers are for
you. With lots of levels of difficulty ranging from the beginner to the expert, our New Frontiers and
Copper Country Climbing Towers have a challenge for all.
EuroBungy
$5 or Hi-Ad Band
Experience the adrenaline rush of bungee jumping as you perform gravity-defying maneuvers up to
two stories high on our four-station EuroBungy. Located in the Gym.
Ziplines
$5 or Hi-Ad band
The CoCo Zipline takes off and sails you, 756’ feet over Lake Jasper on its 6 lines! The NewFro
Zipline boasts of eight lines, 1000’ feet long, 18 mph, and 45 seconds of pure adrenaline. The
Storybrook Zipline is just right for younger campers.
Flying Squirrel
$5 or Hi-Ad band
Imagine this...two poles as tall as the sky with a pulley in-between them...a rope running through
the pulley and we attach you to the rope…at the other end of the rope are 8-10 of your favorite
friends, you run and they run in the opposite direction and you swing through the air like a….flying
squirrel.
Solo Challenge
$5 or Hi-Ad band
It’s just you on this challenge. You, the harness, a rope, and a 20’ pole. Climb up to the top of the
pole and jump for the trapeze. Can you do it? Step up and find out.
Giant Swing
$5 or Hi-Ad band
Strap in and have your friends pull you up, then pull the rip cord for a rip-roaring ride over the lake
on our 40’ giant swing. Wow… what a ride…

Gameroom
Free
The Gameroom is packed full of foosball, ping pong, and billiards tables. Ping pong balls can be
purchased for $0.25, and foosballs can be purchased for $0.50. We also have a multitude of
board games that can be borrowed. The Gameroom is a great place to hang out with your family
or cool off with a brownie ice cream Sunday from the Hill O’ Beans Café.
Copper Country Skate Park
Free
We’ve got the ramps, half-pipes, fly-boxes, rails, and verts. We’ve even got all the safety
equipment needed for a great skate session. Bring your skates or borrow ours. Skateboards are
available as well.
For your safety, an appropriate helmet and pads are required.
General Sports
Free
With 3 basketball courts and 2 volleyball courts there’s plenty of space and time to get in a few
pickup games. All the equipment is out there. Just grab a few friends and go!
Kids’ Quad
Free
This Kids’ Quad provides opportunity for our younger campers to craft, bounce, and slide with
age-appropriate activities tailored with our younger guests in mind.
CRAFTS:
Our Craft House is located in one of the original SpringHill buildings, a former fish hatchery! Head
out to the Copper Country craft house to make your own camp creation.
Beads and Hemp
$3
The Craft Loft offers time to relax and make a cool necklace with beads and hemp. Don’t know
how? Don’t worry; we’ll be there to show you.
Survival Bracelets
$5
Turn ten feet of high strength paracord into a cool and useful bracelet that you can tie and re-tie
over and over. And it looks sweet on you!
Candle Making
$3
Make a cool candle in the craft house. There are lots of colors to choose from as well as some
forming tools available to shape your custom candle.
Tie–Dye
If being creative is your game, our Craft Loft offers the opportunity to customize your own
SpringHill Tie-dye shirt.

EMERGENCY INFORMATION
SpringHill does not employ any medical personnel during the non-summer months. Therefore, we
hope this information will be of use to you. Should an emergency occur, one of our hosts will be
available to assist you.
During the day, our staff can be located by radio.
At night, please call the on-call host phone at 231.580.8144.
A phone is located in the Welcome Center for local calls only (dial ‘9’ first). All Student
Health/Power of Attorney forms will be kept on file and are available by contacting a host.

MINOR EMERGENCIES
A first aid kit will always be available in the New Frontiers Infirmary.
Some members of camp staff are trained in first aid should you need assistance.
SERIOUS EMERGENCIES
SpringHill staff cannot transport injured guests; therefore, you will be responsible for transportation
to and from Reed City Hospital (231.832.3271), which is the closest facility for after hour
emergencies. If you will be traveling to camp by bus, it is a good idea to also bring a vehicle that
can remain with your group should the need arise to travel off site for medical
care.

ESSENTIALS AND STRONGLY RECOMMENDED:
 Shorts, T-Shirts, Long pants & Long sleeved shirts

 Modest one-piece swimsuit, beach towel and sunscreen

Please note: sturdy, close-toed shoes and long pants are REQUIRED for horseback riding and
paintball regardless of weather. Close-toed shoes are recommended for climbing and highadventure activities.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
FROM GRAND RAPIDS:
Follow 131 North to US 10 East (exit 153).
Turn right onto US 10 and follow 13 miles to Evart. Turn left on 95th Avenue at the blinking light.
Follow for 2 miles and you’ll see the Main Entrance to SpringHill on the left. Follow the camp road
to the parking lot across from the New Frontiers Dining Hall.
FROM LANSING:
Take US 127 North to US 10 West.
Merge onto US 10 West toward Ludington/Cadillac and follow 27 miles to Evart. Turn right at the
blinking light at 95th Avenue. Follow for 2 miles and you’ll see the Main Entrance to SpringHill on
the left. Follow the camp road to the parking lot across from the New Frontiers Dining Hall.
FROM DETROIT:
Use I 75 North to US 10 West.
Merge onto US 10 West toward Ludington/Cadillac and follow 27 miles to Evart. Turn right at the
blinking light at 95th Avenue and follow 2 miles. You’ll see the Main Entrance to SpringHill on the
left. Follow the camp road to the parking lot across from the New Frontiers Dining Hall.
