WHITEHALL STATION NEWSLETTER
VOL. I – MARCH/APRIL 2011 – ISSUE III
Vision program coming in
July to the Whitehall Station
Many contractors are
wondering when our station
will be getting the Vision
program that is already
present at Columbus Local.
route is loaded. The more
time you spend with Chance,
the better your load will be
and the easier your day will
be.
We put a letter from Scott Ray
in your mailbox discussing
some of the benefits of the
Vision program.
I stress the importance of
taking the time to really sit
down with Chance and going
through your route. This will
make or break what you think
of this program.
Vision is scheduled to start in
our terminal in July.
Chance Havens will be sitting
down with every contractor to
see how each route is run.
He will have a map for each
route and it will be up to you
to discuss with him how your
route is delivered.
This will determine how your
package count in your
scanner with the package
count on your manifest.
After the initial setup, Chance
will pass this responsibility to
Danielle Lee.
We will also be able to start
working on the easy Q.A.
before the packages even
arrive.
Vision will be able to give
contractors and drivers a copy
of a delivery manifest. This
will inform you of every stop
and package that was
scanned to your vehicle. Now
you will be able to match the
Vision will also improve load
quality. Currently, loaders
need to follow a load chart,
keeping everything in either
alphabetical or numerical
order. The learning curve on
this load method is difficult.
Chad Rutan/FedEx
Vision will be a positive
addition to our facility. It has
the potential to make
everyone’s job easier.
Again, I stress the importance
of the initial setup process,
and please let us know if you
have any questions about the
new Vision program.

ZECO Participates in the 2011 March for Babies
Each spring for the past
twenty years, FedEx
employees have
demonstrated our
commitment to the well-being
of families in our communities
by actively participating in the
March for Babies campaign.
During that time we have
raised $12 million for the
March of Dimes, money that
is being used for research
and education that help
ensure a healthy birth for
every child.
Although much progress has
been made, there is still work
to be done. Every year, over
a half a million babies are
born premature. That is
enough children to fill Ohio
Stadium five times over.
Over a third of those babies
experience serious life long
challenges. The cost for
treatment is financially
devastating to their families.
The emotional cost is
immeasurable.
We will March for Babies
again this year here in ECOL.
I invite each and everyone of
you to not only walk for us,
but to look into your heart and
either give or raise donations.
Each of us either have
children ourselves, or have
family that has children. Some
are healthy, some are not.
This is a way for you to stand
with us and say "no more" for
children who can't stand for
themselves.
This years event, we have
scheduled for a FedEx
Ground van to be place at the
event along with other FedEx
sister companies equipment.
We want to represent our
company well, so I am looking
into doing a balloon give a
way for children, since it was
popular last year with other
companies. We also will
provide some sort of
refreshment to those who
walk with us.
The greater Columbus walk is
st
Sunday, May 1 at the Sports
Barn Easton Town Center.
Registration is at 9:00 a.m.,
the walk is at 10:00 a.m., and
our team name is “FedEx
Ground ZECO 0429.”

Last month Crystal Crowell, our p.m. Q.A. clerk, left FedEx.
She will be missed but we were lucky enough to have Nate
Carpenter join us in her place.
Nate has been with FedEx at the Grove City hub since July
2003. He’s worked various package handler positions such as
loading, unloading and belt picking. Like many of us, he picked
FedEx because the hours were good, the pay wasn’t all that
bad and there were benefits involved even though we work part
time.
I got the chance to ask him five questions to help us get to
know him:
What are you most excited by coming to East Columbus?
The location is really convenient and close to home. I like the
idea of working in a small building. You get the chance to
know more of the people you work with, plus it’s a lot quieter.
I’m also up for all the new experiences.
If you could be any animal which animal would you be and
why?
I’d be a cat because they live the life of luxury.
What are you passionate about?
I love to run. I’ve participated in 5K’s, 10K’s, half-marathons,
and marathons.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
People who don’t use turn signals while they’re driving.
Then click on “Career Opportunities” at the top of the page.
Your login name will be your ID number and your
Password will be your last name in lower case.
FedEx
Family
House
Opens in
Memphis,
TN.
The FedExFamilyHouse is the first and only facility in Memphis
that offers housing to extended-stay patients at Le Bonheur
Children’s Hospital
FedExFamilyHouse is located across the street from the new
hospital and offers families rooms with two double beds, private
bathrooms, a desk and storage for suitcases and belongings.
A press release stated that the facility was funded by a $2.3
million donation from the FedEx Corp. and personal donations
from CEO Fred Smith, and Alan Graff Jr., executive vice
president and CFO.
What’s one thing I should know about you?
I have an identical twin brother. He also works at the
Columbus hub.
"The generosity of FedEx, its leaders and employees is worldclass,” Meri Armour, Le Bonheur Children's president and
CEO, said. “All of us at Le Bonheur are excited and grateful for
their commitment to build FedExFamilyHouse."
We’re excited to have Nate join our family here in East
Columbus. You can find him working the Q.A. cage during the
Outbound shift.
FedEx had its busiest shipping day this December and
celebrated by shipping 400 boxes of donated toys, books and
games to FedExFamilyHouse.

Package Handlers compete for ‘King of the Chutes’ title
March Madness is upon us,
but the NCAA basketball
tournament is not the only
thing people are getting
excited about on the
Outbound shift at East
Columbus.
The first annual King of the
Chutes tournament is
underway.
This single elimination loading
tournament was put together
by management in response
to package handlers’ requests

With the first round not yet

How long have you worked at
FedEx Ground?
I have been with FedEx Ground since
July of 2010.
Why do you like working at FedEx
Ground?
I enjoy working at FedEx Ground
because I love a challenge. It’s very
hard work but I love it.
The people here are very down to
earth and easy to get along with. I’m
very excited about my new position as
a WALPH and am eager to learn as
much as I can.
Heather Nesser/FedEX
Who was your favorite Service
Manager as a Package Handler at
ZECO 429?
My favorite service manager here at
FedEx Ground is Tyler Philips.
Why?
When I first started here at FedEx
Ground, I didn’t know how long I
would last.
But Tyler pushed me every day. He is
an excellent Service Manager and
was determined to make me one of
the best loaders.
He didn’t give up on me easily just
because I am a female.
