FROM THE PASTOR ...
SPECIAL BAPTISM 6:00 PM MASS TODAY
Prayer: Food for the Soul
As we conclude our focus on the Stewardship of
Prayer, I want to thank all of you for the strong
commitment to renew and deepen your relationship
with the Lord. I encourage you to continue with that
“discipline” of prayer, finding whatever prayer style
and method works best for you.
Thanks to all of you who have made the time for a
holy hour or special visit during our recent prayer
vigils: the election prayer vigil last Monday evening,
and the monthly Nocturnal Adoration last Thursday
evening/Friday morning.
Several folks asked for the St. Teresa of Avila prayer
I used a few weeks ago:
“Let nothing disturb you. Let nothing frighten
you. All things pass away. God never changes.
Patience obtains everything. God alone is enough.”
We congratulate and welcome into the faith SAMANTHA
STANFORD, a member of our Sacred Heart Youth
Group. Samantha is the daughter of Kelly & Twila
Stanford. She will be baptized into our Catholic Faith
during our 6:00 PM Sunday Mass today. Welcome !

Thank you for your faithful support to Sacred Heart.
The entire west roof of our church is being replaced, due
to continued leaks and problems. We are also replacing
the large rose window in choir loft. This 50-year window
has begun to deteriorate/disintegrate and we are having
the cast stone and glass rebuilt.
Additionally, we are in the final negotiation stages of a
new organ for our church. More details to follow. Thanks
for your continued support of our Building Fund to help
with these repairs and projects.

The world is the creation of a loving and self-giving God
who gave us all that we are, all that we have, and all that
we ever will be. Our response to such a great gift should
be acknowledgment and gratitude expressed in generosity and sharing with others. The Israelites repeatedly
“forgot their God” but God repeatedly forgave them. Then
He sent His Son to save us and to leave for us a memorial of His life, death, resurrection and ascension to return
to the Father. Jesus found the Temple full of profiteers
that He drove out of “my Father’s house.” Have we
turned God’s house - our world - into a marketplace in
which the prevailing mentality is “He who dies with the
most things wins!” Have we failed to acknowledge and be
grateful for all God has given to us by being generous and
sharing with others? Do we ask, What’s in it for me? and
How much is that going to cost me? before we do something for others? When we see Jesus face to face, will we
feel confident we have used His gifts as He intended for
us to?
