DIVOS INTEGRATED SOLUTION FOR NEW POSSIBILITIES
Frequentis technology helps clients across the world master the tough and changing challenges of modern Air Traffic
Management (ATM). Our solutions improve the efficiency and flexibility of operations, as well as the quality of controller working
environments. They allow air navigation service providers (ANSPs) to provide robust and comprehensive services, and – most
importantly – enhance civil and military air safety.
DIVOS 3 log combines state-of-the-art functionality with astounding availability to deliver flexible and scalable recording you
can rely on, now and into the future. ANSPs and armed forces across the globe particularly value the low operating costs,
continuous lifecycle support, centralised maintenance, easy integration with Frequentis and legacy systems, and readiness for the
standards and technologies that will shape the future of ATM – a future which Frequentis is actively helping develop.
Decades of expertise and long-term relationships with our many valued clients have made Frequentis the global market leader
in voice communication systems in ATM. This same world-class know-how sits behind our innovative DIVOS 3 log recording
solutions, which have already clocked up over 30 million operating hours in more than 50 countries.
Discover why our customers in Europe, North America, South America, and Asia use DIVOS 3 log for their ATM recording needs.
> DFS DEUTSCHE FLUGSICHERUNG, GERMANY
> SMATSA, SERBIA
The DIVOS 3 log solutions used across all of Germany‘s area control centres (ACCs) illustrate how a
modern recording system is about more than „just“ archiving. The systems can record nationwide in all
ACC more than 11,000 audio channels, with metadata recording across dynamic radio frequencies, support
for Data Link CPDLC messages and ED-137B/4 VoIP communications. Equally important is the groundbreaking recording implementation developed in close collaboration with DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung
(Germany’s ANSP). A fully-virtual platform based on blade servers and NAS storage cut potential lifecycle
costs by 25% and floor space requirements by 60%. This scalable solution also allows DFS to monitor
and maintain all its recording systems centrally, further improving system availability, resource use and
organisational efficiency.
Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services (SMATSA) has placed its trust in Frequentis systems
for over 25 years. ACC Belgrade, for example, has fully-redundant DIVOS-based recording facilities
for over 900 channels. As well as recording all relevant ATC communications, SMATSA can also record
ambient noise in the controller room and CISCO CallManager conversations. The benefits extend beyond
actual recording, too. For example, maintenance staff can evaluate radio performance continuously
through the DIVOS 3 log Live Listening feature. DIVOS 3 log also offers flexible system administration
where usage profiles and permissions are specific to each user. The work with this innovative client
is reflected in continuing DIVOS 3 log improvements that benefit other Frequentis clients, too.
> POLISH AIR FORCE, POLEN
> HUNGAROCONTROL, HUNGARY
One of Europe‘s most innovative area control centres will soon be home to one of the most advanced ATM
recording systems in the world. ACC Budapest already has a DIVOS audio recording system, but the latest
upgrade will see the addition of state-of-the-art „at the glass“ recording, our unique virtual cluster concept
and the latest failsafe grabber technology. HungaroControl’s choice of DIVOS 3 log reflects a desire for
innovative, cutting-edge technology that can help this Hungarian ANSP master current and future ATM
challenges, particularly the need to reduce operational costs while improving safety.
As a leader in VoIP technology’s, Frequentis supplied in 2010 the Polish Air Force (PLAF) with one
deployable and three stationary command and reporting centres (CRC), each with a DIVOS 3 log voice
recording system. The centres connected to what was the world‘s first fully IP-based and ED-137 A/B
compliant network. For an armed service potentially required to provide support operations anywhere
in the world, mobility is critical. By integrating state-of-the-art recording capabilities in PLAF‘s deployable
CRC, Frequentis demonstrated how the right technology and expertise can create flexible, mobile systems
that still meet the highest quality and availability requirements of modern ATM.
> MADGE, MALAYSIA
> SENEAM, MEXICO
Mexican ANSP Servicios a la Navegación en el Espacio Aéreo Mexicano (SENEAM) uses a variety of
Frequentis solutions for voice communication, tower automation, networking, and recording systems in
its 58 control towers, 14 TRACONs and 4 ACCs. DIVOS 3 log‘s advanced and high-availability voice and
data recording is improving workflows and incident investigation processes across the country in all
58 airports. The nationwide implementation integrates seamlessly with existing ATM infrastructure to
protect SENEAM’s investments and support smooth migration to future ATM technologies and standards
such as VoIP, screen and ASTERIX recording. It also supports centralised monitoring, which will help
SENEAM further improve air traffic safety in Mexico.
In 2013, Frequentis successfully completed the MADGE (Malaysian Air Defence Ground Environment)
project that comprised the delivery and installation of modern voice communication systems (VCS)
complemented by voice recording capabilities (DIVOS 3 log) in two control centres, a mobile command
shelter, and 16 remote radio sites of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), enabling the RMAF to
conduct countrywide air operations. The Frequentis off-the-shelf products are connected to a new
IP-based radio network interfacing to plain and secure radios. Other aligned project realisations
from the past strengthened Frequentis’ position as a key technology provider to the Malaysian
customer and enabled a more cost-effective approach to the current activities. Besides the ability
to provide cost-effective comprehensive solutions throughout a project’s life cycle, it demonstrates
Frequentis’ profound dedication to long-term customer relations.
> DGCTA, ARGENTINA
> KOFA, GERMANY As an early adopter and ATM technology leader in South America, Dirección General de Control de
Tránsito Aéreo (DGCTA – Argentina‘s ANSP and a long-time Frequentis client) recognises the efficiency
benefits of fully integrating voice communication and recording within one system. DGCTA recently asked
Frequentis to install new integrated Frequentis voice communication and DIVOS 3 log recording systems
at the area control centres in Comodoro Rivadavia and Ezeiza. DGCTA has also entrusted Frequentis with
a seamless upgrade to six tower systems to include loss-free ambient recording through DIVOS 3 log. By
enabling a centralised and future-oriented approach to recording, DGCTA will reduce lifecycle costs, gain
more flexibility when investigating incidents, and provide a role model for the entire Latin America region.
The KOFA milFS (Kontrollausstattung Flugabfertigung militärische Flugsicherung) is a customertailored sophisticated military air traffic control service on more than 20 German military airfields.
It is currently in the process of being migrated to a fully IP-based communication and information
solution. Frequentis integrated further voice and data communication capabilities to two command
and reporting centres (CRC) of the German Air Force (KOFA CRC-IP) ensuring the security of German
air space in close cooperation with civilian air traffic control agencies. This fully IP-based and
highly available system is based on an open architecture and is interconnected with the NATO air
defence system. For more than 25 years the German Air Force trusts in Frequentis’ wide range of
high-quality communication and information systems.
> CIVIL AERONAUTICS ADMINISTRATION, TAIWAN
> MILITARY CUSTOMER, AUSTRALIA
As a global player Frequentis was proud to install DIVOS 3 audio log recording systems for the Civil
Aeronautics Administration (CAA) in Taiwan as part of the country‘s new ATM system. As well as recording
1,000 audio channels, the DIVOS solution is fully integrated with the ATM surveillance system to allow
synchronised playback during incident investigation. Integration and flexibility are key elements of each
DIVOS system’s design. For example, all CAA‘s legacy interfaces can be used with the latest DIVOS 3 log
centralised recording service architecture. This saves money, protects infrastructural investments,
and helps with migration to technologies like VoIP-based communication.
Sixteen Australian airbases now use DIVOS 3 log as their recording system. The customer
(a global military technology company) wanted a future-ready solution to reflect their own reputation
for innovation, but also a reliable solution to support Australia‘s prominent status in Oceania.
The Frequentis off-the-shelf product connects to a new, IP-based radio network interface, and
also records data from military applications through an interface built for classified environments.
Investigators can combine relevant audio recordings with the associated metadata for more efficient
and comprehensive incident analysis.
