well as electing officers for the ensuing
year. We are also in need of volunteers to
serve on several committees. If you are
willing to serve on a committee, contact
Chief Rabban Wes Lord.
To quote The Imperial Potentate
"Remember that our efforts as Shriners
effect both organizations. Raising awareness of the fraternity will positively effect
our health care system. Just as strengthening Shriners Hospitals for Children will
benefit the fraternity. We need every Noble to be an active one.

Thoughts From the Potentate
Hello Nobles! Lady Connie and I have
been to the last visitation of the Northeast
Shrine Association. It's hard to believe
that the year has passed so quickly. I received some good news this week. I have
been appointed to be The Associate Representative for the Springfield Hospital. I
am looking forward to representing
Bektash on the Board of Governors.
November is a busy month for Bektash.
The Feztival of Trees is November 20th29th. It is our biggest fundraiser. Please
come and help out with this event. We
need all the help we can get especially on
Friday the 20th and Saturday morning the
21st, setting up. It is also time to think
about the Christmas Party on December
5th. Details are available in this issue.
Bektash needs your support at all our
events, without your participation we will
not be able to continue holding these
events.
Also coming up in December is the Stated Meeting. At this meeting you will be
voting on the budget for next year, as
One final thought, "How to kill your
lodge: When you do come, come late.
Never accept an Office, it is better to stay
outside and criticize. The Officers ask for
the job let them do all the work. Never pay
your dues on time, wait until you get your
money's worth, and then wait a little longer. It is good to tell your officer's failings
to a visitor. If there are a few over zealous
workers, inform everyone that the lodge is
run by a clique. Disagree with established
rules and regulations. Let people know
you have a mind of your own. Keep talking to the brother next you during lodge, it
makes for good fellowship. If one brother
said or did something you don't like, be
mad at the whole lodge." The same could
be said for the Temple.
Just Thinking,
Ill. Dick Quindley, Potentate 2015

RECORDER’S CORNER
The leaves are falling and the cold wind out of the north
has made its way south. Soon the snow will fly and the
favorite holidays of the year will be upon us.
Here at the Temple there are strong signs that the “Fez”tival of
Trees is not too far away and actually will be happening starting on Friday, November 20th thru Sunday November 29th here at Bektash Shrine
on 189 Pembroke Rd. in Concord, NH. The hard working committee has
put together another fine showing with all the Christmas Trees, wreaths,
silent auction and gift room. The “Chefs” also will be serving their famous lunch and beverages to one and all. If you have never visited us
before, make an effort to come see for yourself what a lot of hard work
by our Nobles and their ladies can do. Note; the “Fez”tival is not open
Thanksgiving Day.
Before you know it, the Bektash Christmas Party will be here on
December 5, 2015. It will feature a Prime Rib dinner with all the fixings. Please see an ad on page 20 that has all the information for this
Yuletide favorite.
Don’t forget to purchase your 2016 Cash Calendar. This is another fund raiser and we do not want you miss out. They are also a great
item to give as a gift to that someone that you never know what to get
for them. (No, I didn’t mean your wife.)
Now, once again, I will mention new Shrine candidates. We are
always in need of your help in finding Master Masons who would like to
join us in the Greatest Philanthropy in the World. They are out there
waiting to be asked. All it takes is an effort by you to seek out the ones
who have the desire to become a Shriner. When they say yes, they want
to become a Shriner, it will be one happiest moments of your life.
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. Enjoy the Holiday and eat
more than your doctor says you should. Start your diet on the Friday after though.
Yours in the Faith,
Guild “Bushie” Hill, PP
Recorder Bektash Shriners

Want to earn money for your Unit, Club or a Bektash
Charity with no cash investment on your part?
Sell Bektash 2016 Cash Calendars
We hope you all purchase or get involved on becoming part of the
2016 Cash Calendars Raffle. A repeat of our successful past events will
be made for 2016. A copy of our ad is on the adjacent page. Take a
look, it’s great!
We will have a total of 2500 to sell as we did in 2015. This is a major
fund raiser for Bektash. It is in the same league as Bingo and the
“Fez”tival of Trees. It is and has been the major fund raiser for several
of our sister Shrine Centers.
Here’s how you can easily become part of this exciting fund raiser! No
upfront investment or upfront cash required. We supply the calendars
on consignment to your Unit, Club or a Noble, your choice. Your Unit,
Club or Bektash Charity can earn a commission of $2.00 for each calendar sold. The $2.00 commission will be paid in July 2017.
As a bonus, when all 2500 calendars are sold the commission will be
increased to $3.00 for each calendar sold by the Unit, Club or Noble.
The $3.00 commission will be paid in 2017 to the Unit, Club or Bektash
Charity of your choice, once we sell all 2500 calendars. 1900 were sold
0n 2013. Help us sell all 2500 for 2016. We can do it!
If the Noble does not belong to a Unit or Club, the Noble, his family
and friends can sell the Calendars with the commission paid to a
Bektash Charity of their choice.
We will have these beautiful full color calendars in July. Based on what
we have experienced for in the last two years we feel that the calendars
will sell out quickly. So, get yours and help Bektash sell all 2500.
Contact the Bektash Office at 603-225-5372 so that we can get you
started. Thanks.

BEKTASH CLOWNS
UNIT NEWS
It was a busy summer for the Bektash Clowns with parades and
events across New Hampshire. Many thanks to all our clowns who
were "on the street" entertaining kids and parents alike. We also
want to thank the members of our "Clowns Auxillary" - our ladies, retired joeys, and friends - who do so much to help and support us.
Even though we are a small unit the Bektash Clowns still make a big
impression for Shriners and our hospitals. November and December
bring us the "brisk" Holiday Parades in Derry, Salem, Rochester, and
Haverhill, MA which usually begs the question "How many layers of
long johns can you fit under that costumer??".
Be sure to check out the Clown's tree at the “Fez”tival of Trees this
year. Our theme is "A Night At The Movies" thanks to our Auxillary
Ladies who are busy as we speak planning their tree decorating. The
tree will be filled with great surprises and we're thinking it will be a
crowd favorite.
We will soon be officially announcing the 2016 HOBO DINNER plans
so stay tuned. We're working on some new ideas to make this the
most fun Shrine event of the year (and one you won't want to miss!).
At our Milford Labor Day parade we were pleased to welcome a
Master Mason from Benevolent 7 Lodge as a "Clown For A Day".
Afterwards he shared with us what a great time he had. Altho he had
never clowned before we got him in costume, put on the clown face,
gave some instruction on the art of clowning, and sent him into the
parade with his mentor, Bobo. The rumor is we may have a new
clown and Shriner in the near future. If you've ever wondered what
it's like, we would love to have you join us for a day. No one has
more fun than the Bektash Clowns!

“FEZ”TIVAL OF TREES
LETTER FROM TED DOOLEY, PP
AND RON PERRY, CHAIRMAN
Nobles,
As most of you know our “Fez”tival of Trees is now the
largest fundraiser at Bektash. My Lady Barbara and I brought this
idea to Bektash 15 years ago, and have worked hard to support it, as
we believed it had the potential to raise $100,000 plus per year for
Bektash. Having reached our goal in 2014, and worked for 15
years to do so it is now time for us to step aside, and let some new
folks, with new ideas take this fundraiser to new heights. This is
not a difficult event to run. We have detailed notes, and time lines
of the things that need to be done to make it work.
This will be our last year running this event, and Bektash
needs someone to step in and take over.
Likewise, Ron Perry has been taking a week of his vacation
for the last 12 years, 7 of which he was the Chair of this event. He
has also decided that this will be his last year as Chair.
We will all still be supporting the event, but the time has
come for someone else to run it. We will of course give full support to who ever steps up. The time is now for someone to step up.
Ill. Richard “Ted” Dooley, PP
Ronald D. Perry

THE100MILLIONDOLLARCLUB
The 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children have provided lifesaving
and life-changing medical care to more than 800,000 children,
regardless of their ability to pay.
The money to provide these needed services at 22 hospitals
comes from many sources: community donations; fundraising
events; investment income; and support from the Shriners International.
As health care costs increase, Shriners Hospitals needs your
help, more than ever, to continue to provide more specialized
care, offer medical education and conduct more research. Too
many people believe that if they cannot donate or leave a large
sum or money, their gift will not count. Every contribution helps.
In order to encourage donors to contribute to Shriners Hospitals
for Children, the HUNDRED MILLION DOLLAR CLUB was established in 1972. The club is named for its goal of adding 100
million dollars to the endowment fund through gifts or bequests of
$100 or more.
HOWTOJOIN
There are three ways to become a member of the 100 Million
Dollar Club: (1) By contributing $100 or more to Shriners Hospitals for Children; (2) By having your will include a bequest of
$100 or more to Shriners Hospitals for Children; or (3) By adding
a provision to an existing will leaving $100 or more to Shriners
Hospitals for Children. Shriners. Please fill out the form on the
right and send your contribution to Bektash Shriner's Recorder
Joel Weinstein.
WHATYOURECEIVE
Each donor receives a handsome 100 Million Dollar Club certificate. By contributing $100, you can feel like a million, knowing
that you have helped to ensure that Shriners Hospitals for Children will be able to continue helping children in the years to
come.

In Memoriam
JEROME A BENUCK
BEDFORD, N.H.
Deceased: 10/19/2015
Born: 02/02/1937
Created: 06/12/1972
To the promised land our friends have gone,
To the land of perfect rest;
Their work is done—and the setting sun
Has sealed their life’s request.
They have left this earthly strand,
For the house beyond the sea,
Though the past is gone, they will still live on
To us all—Sweet in our Memory.
