From natural disasters to major accidents,
Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI) require
emergency preparedness for disasters in
the field. Located in the Exhibit Hall, the
hands-on MCI training offers best practices
in communication during a mass casualty
incident, techniques in START Triage, selfaid, buddy-aid, and tourniquet application.
Featuring military SMRT tents, these
exercises prepare nurses for emergencies
outside of the ED.
Training starts every half hour while the
Exhibit Hall is open.

The 2016 General Assembly, ENA’s
annual business meeting, will be held
September 13–14. ENA President
Kathleen E. Carlson, MSN, RN, CEN,
FAEN, will preside.
Delegates representing ENA’s state
councils, including international delegates,
will debate and vote on important
professional emergency nursing topics
that are brought forth as resolutions and
bylaws amendment proposals.
ENA members are welcome to observe
the proceedings.

Registered attendees can earn up to
37.25 contact hours, depending on
sessions attended, at Emergency Nursing
2016. Contact hours are earned through
attendance at Presessions, Opening and
Closing session, Anita Dorr Memorial
Lecture and Luncheon, Concurrent
sessions, Fast Track sessions, ePoster
sessions, and Deep Dive sessions.
Accreditation
The Emergency Nurses
Association is accredited as a
provider of continuing nursing
education by the American
Nurses Credentialing Center’s
Commission on Accreditation.
The Emergency Nurses Association is
approved by the California Board of
Registered Nursing, Provider Number
CEP #2322.
In compliance with ANCC continuing
nursing education requirements, all
Education Planning Committee members,
presenters, faculty, authors, and content
reviewers must disclose the presence
or absence of any financial or other
associations with the manufacturers
of commercial products, suppliers of
commercial services, or commercial
supporters in relation to the educational
activity. Learners will be informed if a
commercial interest has provided financial
or in-kind support for the educational
activity, including how content activity is
maintained and bias prevented.
Course Tickets and Classroom Seating
Tickets may be required for some courses,
which may require an extra fee. If a ticket
or extra fee is required, it will be noted in
the course description. All other courses
are available on a first-come, first-served
basis, so please arrive early.
Course Content
ENA strives to provide educational
opportunities that reflect various aspects
and opinions to help nurses make informed
decisions about pertinent issues affecting
emergency nursing. Comments, opinions,
and/or recommendations expressed by the
faculty in ENA programs, or by authors of
printed and/or visual materials distributed
as part of ENA programs, are not
necessarily reviewed nor endorsed by the
Association. Faculty and program content
are subject to change at any time.
A select number of education sessions will
repeat throughout Emergency Nursing
2016. Look for the REPEAT icon to see
when a session repeats.
Successful Completion
To successfully complete the educational
requirements of Emergency Nursing 2016,
registered attendees will be required to:
§§ Fully attend sessions
§§ Complete an evaluation regarding the
faculty presentation and the success
of the course within 30 days when you
record your contact hours
What are Continuing Education
Recognition Points (CERPs)?
CERPs stands for continuing education
recognition points. ENA-issued CERPs are
not affiliated with, or accredited by, any
other nursing organization. ENA CERP
designation signifies the session has been
granted recognition of content that offers
relevant information of value to emergency
nursing. BCEN accepts CERPs for
recertification if the content is a minimum
of 60 minutes. Accrual of CERP content
from multiple conference presentations
60 minutes or greater is allowed by BCEN.
For example, attendance at two different
30-minute sessions could accrue to the
minimum required 60 minutes.
Please check the BCEN website,
http://www.bcencertifications.org, for
current CERP acceptance information.
ENA does not guarantee that other
organizations, institutions, certification
bodies, accreditation agencies, or state
boards of nursing will accept CERPs from
ENA CERP-designated sessions.

ENA offers Advanced Clinical sessions for
experienced emergency nurses seeking
more in-depth education.

ENA has created a focus area specifically
designed to provide advanced practice
nurses and more experienced emergency
nurses with progressive clinical information
and diagnostic education.
Advancing Practice through ePoster
Sessions
Research and evidence-based practice
ePosters are presented during Emergency
Nursing 2016. Take advantage of this
opportunity to review current studies
on relevant emergency nursing topics.
Posters are available for viewing all
day Wednesday through Saturday. The
researchers will be present to discuss their
studies at specified times.
Deep Dive Sessions
Experience in-depth exploration of a topic
that can’t be covered in a traditional course
length. Take advantage of this unique
opportunity to expand your knowledge in
an extended, interactive session format,
which requires no additional fee. The Deep
Dive format requires no additional fee, but
due to limited capacity, preregistration is
required.
Fast Track Sessions
These 30-minute sessions provide
attendees the opportunity to hear the
latest, need-to-know, cutting-edge
information in a fast-paced presentation.

ADVOCACY
The Research Bootcamp is devoted to
providing attendees the basic tools and
skills needed to boost their research
expertise. Attendees will gain knowledge
on developing a research question,
determining the appropriate methodology,
and creating a simplified data analysis.
Research is the key to moving the
profession of emergency nursing forward
by changing practice based on scientific
evidence. This session will show you how
that’s done.
Perhaps the old adage “Truth is stranger
than fiction” is no more true than when
emergency nurses begin to share their
tales from work. To the non-emergency
nurse, these tales would often seem
fictional, yet they are a daily reality in the
emergency department. Join Terry Foster
and Jeff Solheim along with invited guests
as they share some of these stories. Dig
deeper into the people behind the stories
and the truths that can be revealed when
these stories are carefully dissected.

ENA Foundation Registration Raffle
The ENA Foundation is pleased to offer tickets for a chance to win
fabulous prizes including conference registration and a three-night
hotel stay in St Louis for Emergency Nursing 2017. Participate in the

All proceeds fund academic scholarships and research grants

Deposit Plan
ENA members have an opportunity to place a non-refundable $100
deposit on a full conference registration. This gives you the option
to lock in the lower registration fee before June 22, 2016, and pay
your balance prior to the conference or onsite.
Cancellations and Refunds
For ENA members taking advantage of the deposit plan, your $100
deposit is nonrefundable. All membership dues, donations to ENA
Foundation, or additional events with a fee are non-refundable
at any time. You may cancel your registration without cause by
notifying the ENA Registration Bureau in writing via email or mail
on or before Aug. 31, 2016. Cancellations received before that date
will be processed in four to six weeks minus a $50 processing fee.
Refunds will be processed in the name of the original payer within
four to six weeks after the initial request is received. ENA regrets
refunds will not be given for no-shows.
Child Care
In response to attendees’ requests, and to provide a safe and
educational atmosphere at the meeting, children and infants are
not allowed in educational sessions, the Exhibit Hall, or special
events. If you plan to bring a child younger than 18 years, please
make arrangements for child care in advance.
Children younger than 18, accompanied by an adult, are welcome
to attend the Evening at Universal Studios® event with a paid ticket.

International Airport. All hotels are within
walking distance of both the Los Angeles
Convention Center and attractions such as
shops, a broad range of restaurants, and
world-class theaters, museums, and sports

AIRFARE
Super Shuttle Departure:
1. Please be ready at your designated shuttle/taxi pick-up location
2. SuperShuttle will arrive within 15 minutes of the pick-up time
selected when booked online
Search airlines free of charge and purchase your flights online for
a $5 service fee. For flight booking assistance, contact Options
Travel Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 7:00 pm CDT at
800.544.8785. When calling, please reference you are an ENA
conference attendee. Tickets booked by phone with an agent cost
$25; there is no fee to call and ask questions. Any calls outside of
these times are considered “after hours” and are subject to a $21
service fee.
Taxi Service
Taxis can be found curbside on the Lower/Arrival Level islands
in front of each terminal under the yellow sign indicating Taxis.
Taxi fare ranges from $65 to $77 per person one way to ENA host
hotels. Passengers will be presented with a ticket stating typical
fares to major destinations. Only authorized taxis with an official
seal issued by City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation
on each vehicle are permitted in the airport. It is illegal for any
transportation services to solicit fares, and travelers using such
services do so at their own risk.
Booking with ENA’s preferred travel partner, Options Travel,
allows you to gain access to additional assistance with your airfare
needs when you experience delays or difficulties in your travel,
and supports your Association by utilizing our service partners.

INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LAX)
Super Shuttle
The ENA discounted Super Shuttle rate is $15 each way from
LAX to all ENA host hotels. Round-trip fare is $30. Advance
reservations are required. Click here to take advantage of the
ENA discounted rate and select the “Book Online” button. You
may also make a reservation by calling 800.258.3826, and using
code 5WH8D to receive the discount. If the discount code is not
used at the time of booking, the fare will be $17 one-way and $35
round-trip.

Ride Service
Uber and Lyft rideshare services are authorized to provide pickup services at LAX. Passengers can make a request once they
are located on the terminal curbside. Authorized Transportation
Network Companies may drop off and pick up passengers on
the Airport Upper/Departures Level only. Signs that state “Ride
Service Pick-Up” are positioned on the Upper/Departures Level to
facilitate the meeting point.

SHUTTLE SERVICE
Complimentary shuttle service will be provided to and from the
Los Angeles Convention Center for guests with reservations at
The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites, Sheraton Los Angeles
Downtown Hotel, LA Hotel Downtown, Omni Los Angeles Hotel at
California Plaza, and the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.
