4 WHEREAS. pu$uant to Legislative Couneil Resolutions 95-525,96-197 and 96-357,

the Nation entered into an Attorney Contract, and Amendment

"Attorneys") for the purpose of providing legal representation to

protect the Nation's interests under the Indian Child Welfare Act in

connection with legal proeeedings in the State of California; and

the Attorney Contract expired on September 30, 1996; and
WIIf,Rf,AS, continued representation is neeessary to proteet the Nationts interests
in these proceedings; and

IB WHEREAS. the Attorney General has recommended an extension of the Attorney

Contract for fiscal year 1997 in the amount of $10,000; and

the operating budget for the 0ffice of Attorney General for fiseal

year 1997 has sufficient funds for a Contract in sueh amount; and

WHERIAS,
the
Domestic Affairs Committee reeommends approval
by
the

Legislative Council of an Attorney Contract with the Attorneys on
sueh terms.

The Tohono 0'odham Legislative Council hereby approves an

amount of $10,000 for the fiseal year ending September 30,

The Chairman of the Nation is authorized and direeted to

Funding for the Attorney Contraet shall be provided under the
fiscal year 1997 operating budget for the Office of Attorney
