April Project:
April has brought springtime to Colorado and we are fortunate to continue our celebration with Joanne Turnley's
beautiful beaded bracelet design. This is a fun and easy square stitch beading project. Every frame of this
bracelet offers a different Colorado theme, including a columbine. Opportunities for personalizing both the
length and/or individual frames.
What To Bring: Scissors and, if you have one, a needle threader for use with a beading needle. Optional: extra light or
magnification.if needed when beading.
President’s Message
Hello Ladies!
Here we are in April and Spring has now arrived. Is it just me or has this year been going
really fast??? I hope you all enjoyed the March
program with Susan Goodman as much as I
did. It was so fun to revisit a project the Chapter had done before. As Susan pointed out,
things have certainly changed over the
years! Thank you Susan for sharing such a
beautiful and fun project with us! This month
we continue our 50th Anniversary celebration
with a beaded Colorado bracelet. It should be
another great program. I look forward to seeing you there!!

Registration is ongoing for "To The Finish"!
Several of us from Colorado Chapter will be attending this year's (first-ever) RMR
Retreat. No classes, but two great days of stitching fun! Once again, the dates
are October 9 & 10, in beautiful Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Treat yourself and
join us! Regular registration ($140) continues through May 31st. Late registration
(extra $25 fee) runs through the month of June. All details for the retreat, as well as
the registration forms, can be found and downloaded from the Region website.
Whether you're planning to attend or not, you're encouraged to stitch an original
piece for the Prospectors Exhibit. The Rocky Mountain Region is the only region in
EGA which sponsors such an exhibit. This year's theme is "Mementos." Your entry
can relate to the theme, but it is not a requirement.
Gay Phillips Education Grant Received!
Our region's application for the $5,000 grant being offered by EGA National to each
region has been accepted and the $5,000 check has been received! Each chapter
in the RMR will be able to choose a GCC as part of this grant, and the remaining
funds will be used for an on-line course for region members. Details will be worked
on at the Region Meeting in Grand Junction on April 11th. So I will have more info.
at our April chapter meeting.
Gold Thread Award Nominations are due May 1.
It would be wonderful if several members from our region were nominated, including
perhaps someone from our chapter. The award recognizes outstanding individuals
who have given freely of their time and talents, and best exemplify EGA's purpose. "A total of 13 individuals may be recognized each year (one from each region), with a national recipient chosen from the group of region recipients." An
online nomination form can be found on the national website under the Education
tab. "Scholarships and Awards" is found at the bottom of the dropdown list. Scroll
to the bottom of this category for an online nomination form for the Gold Thread
Award. If you have any questions, contact the EGA National Office.
March Show and Share Table
The 7th Floor Gallery of the Denver Public Library will be the site of our
50th Anniversary Exhibition throughout October 2015. The Advisory Committee continues to explore possibilities for an opening reception, coordinating special exhibits, and more.
The Gallery is now available to viewers every day, rather than the 4 days/
week we staffed ten years ago.
Plan to attend the April meeting! Important items to be discussed will include
• Staffing challenges
• Willingness to commit to entering
• Options for collection of pieces
• Who will help with exhibition and more ...
WE HOPE TO HEAR YOUR IDEAS ON APRIL 28!
