DANIEL BOTTERO: The Love of the Poet
Daniel Bottero is a modernist painter with a big
following. AND NOW IT’S OUR OPPORTUNITY TO GET
TO KNOW THE ARTIST AND HIS WORK. An exhibition of
Bottero paintings is coming to the Ann Norton Sculpture
Garden & Gallery in October with an opening celebration
with the artist planned for October 6th. Paintings from the
Bottero series, The Love of the Poet will be featured in the
exhibition from the 1st-25th.
On Sunday, October 23, Bottero also uses his
talents to host a charity golf event at Breakers West to
benefit the Center for Creative Education. Bottero is a
founding member of the Miami Dade County Schools
Artist in Residence program and is pleased to share his
commitment to young people to encourage an interest
in the arts among Palm Beach County students by
supporting the important work of the Center for Creative
Education. (Learn more by visiting: www.cceflorida.org)
Daniel Bottero grew up in Argentina and graduated
from the National School of Fine Arts, Buenos Aires. From
there, Bottero went to Italy where he earned his Master’s
Degree at the Academia Italiana di Belle Arti in Lucca, Italy.
From 1986 to 1990 Bottero resided and worked in Paris
and since 1990 has called the U.S. home living and working
between Studios in New York, Miami and Buenos Aires.
Critic Donald Kuspit says, “Bottero is what Baudelaire
called a poet painter, that is, a painter who uses the
medium to convey the poetry of his emotions, indeed, of his
temperament. He is a modernist painter, in the exploration

of the gestural possibilities of painterly
fluidity is of prime importance for him, but
he is a poet in that he makes the medium
resonate with feeling, and even tell a
kind of emotional story.”
A Palm Beach showroom managed
by Art Director, Ms. Farley Rentschler is scheduled for a September
opening on Brazilian Avenue. For more information on the Showroom

Bottero’s work has been exhibited at several famous museums
throughout the world and is featured in the corporate collections of
Citibank, Xerox, Avon, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan Chase Bank.
“Each painting I create is an essential part
of my inner being. Our past, our present
and our future all influence my paintings.
Yesterday, today, life, New York, new
encounters, loves, dreams, loneliness, strange
noises and sorrows. Each painting I create is
an essential part of my inner being.”

In addition, Bottero’s work has sold at both Sotheby’s and Christie’s
auction houses in New York and can be found in the private collections
of A-list celebrities, government officials, and athletes.
Says Dr. Carol Damian, FIU’s Professor of Art History, “Bottero has
explored a number of pictorial methods over his successful twenty-year
career in Europe and the Americas. Today, Bottero’s style is loose and
fluid, and distinguished by the sureness of markings in opaque whites
and velvety blacks that interrupt the color fields to become part of his
own visual language of images and signs. From delicate lines that
tend to appear and disappear as they bleed into beautifully colored
backgrounds, forms and figures entice the viewer to become a part of
the painting and create his or her own ending to a story both personal
and universal.”
We can’t wait to see for ourselves.
