Waiting List:
The YMCA will make every effort to accommodate all interested participants if doing so does
not compromise the quality and safety of the
program. After a class limit has been reached, a
waiting list will be started. At the time a vacancy
occurs, individuals will be contacted in the order
they appear on the list.

Grades 1-6
Grades 1-6 must leave the building by 7:00
pm unless they are in a supervised program
or accompanied by an adult.
Grades 7-8

REFUND POLICY
If the YMCA for any reason cancels a program, a
full refund will be given. If you wish to discontinue participation in a program, a pro-rated
credit will be given for use toward another
program or service. NO CASH REFUNDS.

College student summer memberships are
available for students who are home for the
summer from May 1st to Labor Day. The student
summer membership rate is $25.00 per month.

Enrollment fees are a one time fee,
collected on all new memberships.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PLAN
It is the policy of the Miami County YMCA to provide
services to all those who need them regardless
of ability to pay established fees. Assistance is
awarded based on their demonstrated ability to
pay and the YMCA’s ability to fund the amount
requested.

Membership fees may be paid through any of the

DAYCAMP
COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAM
Grades 6 & Up
The CIT Program gives youth a chance to take a
leadership role during camp, helping counselors
with supervision within their groups and with
running camp activities. Many CITs go on later
to become Daycamp Counselors themselves.
Potential participants must meet with the
Daycamp Director before registering.
SUMMER DAY CAMP
For Boys & Girls ~ Grades 1-3 & Grades 4-6
Day Camp Concept:
Summer Day Camp provides boys and girls an
opportunity to enjoy themselves and make
new friends in an outdoor/camp atmosphere.
A variety of activities will be offered including
swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, sports, nature
studies, bowling, skating, and more.

You need not be a camper to participate in these
exciting adventures. Please contact the director
for prices and availability.

Day Camp Program:
Each week will have a different theme, ensuring a
variety of activities at camp. Parents will receive
a calendar at the beginning of each week which
includes daily activities, overnights and the “trip

Fall School Age Care begins on Monday of the
first week of Piqua City Schools Schedule and
ends the Friday of the last week of the Piqua
Schedule.

PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY
The Child Care Program is a full time state
licensed facility designed to meet the
developmental needs of children 6 weeks to 12
years of age. Each child has the opportunity
to grow creatively, socially, and academically
through hands on experience. Children develop
a positive self concept through a balance of self
directed activities and small group time. The
staff is supportive, nurturing, and responsive
to each child’s individual needs. Parents are
welcome to visit their children throughout the
day if possible. Classroom volunteers are always
welcome.

The Miami County YMCA Little School/Wee Little
School Program offers children a warm and loving
environment in which to grow mentally, physically,
and spiritually. We believe every child is a unique
creation with special talents and capabilities,
and as such, has immeasurable worth to him/
herself and society. Learning experiences will
be provided that will help stimulate the child’s
natural curiosity and desire to learn.

on the Academic Learning Content Standards science, math, social studies, and early literacy
skills. **There will be no structured swim time.

A nonrefundable deposit equal to the first
months payment must be paid at the time of
registration for Little School, Wee Little School &
Pre-K. One weeks payment for Child Care. The
above fees include the cost of field trips.
YMCA SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE
Registration begins April 6, and ALL registrations
must be turned in by August 7. A $50 per child
non-refundable deposit is required. This deposit
will be applied to your first weeks fees in the fall.
School Age Programs include transportation to
and from Piqua Schools. When school is cancelled,
delayed, early dismissal, and late arrivals; we
will be available from 6:30am-6:00pm with no
additional cost.

Children will be introduced to the basics of
organized sports, as well as develop motor
skills. The class will include soccer, basketball,
tee ball, and floor hockey. All sessions take
place in the YMCA basketball gym and requires
the participation of a parent.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE
Late night events for boys and girls grades
1-6. Grab your friends and come for a night of
swimming, games, snacks, and a whole lot of fun!
Drop off is at 7:00 pm and Pick up is at 11:30
pm. Don’t forget your swim suit.

FITNESS CENTER AGE GUIDELINES
Jr. High members (grades 7-8) may only use the
Fitness Center when accompanied by a parent/
guardian or are participating in a supervised
YMCA program. Those certified with Junior
Strength may use the fitness center only when
a fitness center attendant is on duty. Younger
members are permitted to use the facility only
when participating in a program offered by the
YMCA staff.
Registration will be taken the night of the
overnight with a $2.00 late fee.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

education program. Groups will be split based
on participants age. Units will include basketball,
soccer, swim instruction, physical fitness, and

JR. HIGH STRENGTH TRAINING & AGILITY
Jr. High Students (grades 7-8) will learn the
principles, techniques, and safety concerns
with the use of strength training equipment. A

KID ACTIVE
We are revamping the KidFit Program in order to
improve the quality of exercise participation of
our youth. Kid Active is a 30 minute program that
will meet 3 times a week with a YMCA Trainer.
The youth will be lead in a variety of
exercises using dumbbells, mats, resistance
bands and tubes, stability balls, as well as
utilizing their own body weight for exercise.
This program is designed to provide youth with the
many benefits of regular exercise participation.

YMCA Healthy Kids day is a day for youth
to learn how living a healthy lifestyle can be
fun! Kids who possess knowledge of and
who are taught to practice healthy habits

STRONG FIT WELL
This is a FREE program open to youth ages
8-16 who have received a BMI (Body Mass
Index) measurement by the school nurse or
a doctor near or above the 85th percentile.
SPORTS ENHANCEMENT TRAINING
Work with a personal trainer in order to increase
your sports specific athletic performance. All
trainings are individually tailored to meet the
needs of each athlete. Group rates are available
for sports teams looking to train during their

This program provides opportunities for
students to learn about and practice
healthy eating and physical behaviors with
their families. Together, with the help of a
personal trainer, families will learn about
nutrition and healthy food choices, exercise
and play games, and learn how to set and
achieve healthy lifestyle goals.

SUMMER SPORTS CAMPS
YMCA Summer Sports Camps are an excellent

YOUTH TRACK TEAM
The Miami County YMCA is forming a youth track

AIKIDO
Aikido, a Japanese form of self defense that
offers a unique approach to conflict resolution
and personal development. Aikido uses the
attackers own energy against them, thus
making it an art of timing and finesse rather
than raw physical power. Used ethically, Aikido

one’s self without causing undue harm to the
attacker. In addition, Aikido can provide a useful

AQUATICS
LIFEGUARDING
Become certified as a professional lifeguard by
the only organization with over 100 years of
lifeguarding experience. The YMCA Lifeguarding
Course is a nationally recognized lifeguard
certification program that includes more in-depth
water rescue and decision-making skills compared
to other certifying agencies. CPR, First Aid, and
Oxygen Administration are included.
WORKING TO KEEP YOU SAFER
POOL RULES
ALL Swimmers under the age of 16 may be
required to pass a swim test before having
access to the deep area of the pool.
ALL swimmers under the age of 9 MUST
have an adult ACTIVELY SUPERVISING them
in the pool area.
Prerequisites: Must be 16 years old by the end
of class. Must pass a physical competency test
conducted in three phases that include swimming
300 yards (need to know breast stroke, sidestroke,
freestyle, and elementary backstroke), tread
water 2 minutes with legs only, and pass the third
phase that includes sprinting 25 yards, retrieving
an object from the bottom of the pool, treading
water 1 minute while holding the object, hoisting
themselves out of the pool, performing 1 minute of
compressions on a CPR mannequin, and following
instructions given by the instructor.

SPLASH is a water safety education program
offered FREE to members and nonmembers
entering first through sixth grade in the fall.
Children will learn basic swimming skills along
with personal rescue, survival, and how to get
help. The program will meet for four days in
45 minute sessions at 9:30 am and 10:30
am. Registration forms will available at either
branch in May. Preregistration is required by
June 9.

activities and games, while a parent accompanies

MINNOW - Advanced Beginner II (ratio1:8)
Learn to tread water, front paddle with
rotary breathing, elementary backstroke, and
breaststroke. Must be able to swim 25 yards
with assistance or flotation device.
FISH - Intermediate Level (ratio 1:8) Refine
crawl
stroke,
backstroke,

elementary backstroke, and side stroke for 50
yards/meters. Introduce butterfly stroke.
SKIPS - 6 months - 2 years old A structured

all strokes 100 yards/meters. Introduce other
stroke variations and 200 yard individual medley.

A fun class where young swimmers get to learn

PIKE - Beginner Level Designed for new
swimmers, teaching basic paddle stroke and
kicking skills, pool safety, and breath control.
EEL - Advanced Beginner Level Skills include

DAYTIME MIXED GROUP SWIM LESSONS
A nontraditional look at swim lessons. The age
barrier is broken and the swimmers are placed

Everyone who signs up will be tested on the first
day then grouped accordingly. Skills taught are
similar to traditional lessons. Must be at least 4

The YMCA Youth Center is a drop-in program
for YMCA members, grades 7-12. Teens can
participate in a variety of activities or hang out
with friends. The Youth Center is open 7 days
a week with adult supervision and mentoring.
Rising 7th-graders will be admitted into the
Youth Center in the summer following the
completion of 6th grade.
Leaders Club is for YMCA members in grades
7-12. Teen Leaders provide service to the
Miami County YMCA and their community.
Leaders meet weekly during the school year with
balanced programs for Leadership Development,
Personal and Spiritual Development, Recreation,
and Service to Others. There are several
opportunities for Leaders to attend state-wide
rallies and a week-long Leaders Training School

YOUTH IN
GOVERNMENT
In April we participate in the Ohio YMCA Youth
in Government at the State House in Columbus.
At Youth in Government teens learn about the
democratic process by participating as Senators,
Representatives, Lobbyists, Supreme Court Justices,
Pages, and Media Staff in a three day legislative,
judicial, and executive session. The Miami County
YMCA Youth in Government Clubs meet weekly during
the school year in preparation for the April session.
