The 17th Annual Canadian Tire Regent Starkids Golf Tournament surpassed its’
goals by raising over $87,000 - the most ever raised at this event!
Congratulations to the planning committee and volunteers, and thank you to
our generous sponsors. Funds raised support the Specialized Communication
Resources for Children Department and Sun and Fun Camp at the Rehabilitation
Centre for Children.
Seventy-eight-year-old John Wichers successfully completed John’s Excellent Bike
Adventure. Enduring busy highways and extreme heat, John raised $25,000 for
CRF. Thank you to John! Funds raised will be used to purchase bikes for children
and youth.
CRF was the Charity of Choice at the Half-Moon Drive In’s Rockin’ on the Red
Festival. Thanks to Wayne McIntosh and Half-Moon for hosting CRF for the
weekend. CRF presented six-year-old Joey with a Freedom Concepts bike funded
by Half-Moon and the festival’s 50/50 Draw.
The 8th Annual Ellen Chlan Memorial Golf Tournament raised $3,600 for CRF!
This tournament is organized by family and volunteers in memory of Ellen Chlan,
a long-time CRF volunteer. Thank you to Danny and Mike Chlan and “their crew”
for organizing a great annual event!
Dan’s Invitational Golf Tournament raised $1,180. Thank you to Dan Bell-Gagnon
for organizing the annual tournament and Pasquales fundraising dinner to raise
funds for CRF.
The 15th Annual Road to Rehab raised over $17,000! Nineteen cyclists rode from
the Rehabilitation Centre for Children in WInnipeg to Birds Hill Park and back in
one day! Participant Kris Driedger says, “My motivation is not only the fitness
aspect and the team bonding experience you have during the ride, it is mainly the
joy of actually seeing where our fundraising dollars go. It is an unbelievable and
humbling experience to meet and spend time with the families and children who
benefit from our donations. “
Curt Wyatt and the Wyatt Dowling team hosted a fun Community Barbeque in
Transcona this summer and selected CRF as their Charity of Choice. Thank you to
the Wyatt Dowling team for including us in your summer fun! Wyatt Dowling will
generously match all donations made that day to donate to CRF.

FORMER PATIENT GIVES BACK
TO REHAB FOUNDATION
Michael Gerl was just a toddler when he was first introduced
to the Rehabilitation Centre for Children. Born with cerebral
palsy, Michael credits learning to walk independently to
the therapists at the Rehabilitation Centre for Children who
encouraged and supported him.
Now 23 and a successful entrepreneur and radio show host,
Michael is a strong believer in giving back. He set out to raise
money for CRF to help other children and youth.
This spring marked his 3rd Annual Michael Gerl Hockey
Classic, a women’s hockey tournament featuring players
from Manitoba Women’s Junior Hockey League. In three
years he has raised over $8,561 for CRF; funds which will be
used to help children and youth living with disabilities and
special needs.
Thank you Michael for all you do for CRF and the many
children and families you have helped.

The Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation is a local Manitoba charity dedicated to helping children living with
disabilities and special needs. We raise funds through special events, grants and donations to purchase
specialized equipment that helps children become more independent and fund modified recreation programs
where kids can have fun and learn valuable life skills. We are 100% dependent on the generosity of the community
and need your support to help children. To learn how to get involved, visit crf.mb.ca.
