Unit Overview
Kids learn that there is a battle between God and Satan. God’s mission is to help as many people in
this world as possible choose to believe in and follow Him, and grow Christians into the people He
wants them to be. Satan’s mission is to prevent people from choosing to believe in and follow God,
and prevent Christians from growing into the people God wants them to be.

l Objectives
KNOW WHAT (LG): Kids will hear how we need to have a relationship with God and put on
the full Armor of God.
SO WHAT (LG): Kids will learn that Jesus died to offer eternal life to everyone who believes.
The Helmet of Salvation assures us that our salvation can never be taken away.
NOW WHAT (SG): Kids will discuss! God's plan for salvation and have an opportunity to ask
questions about what it means. Children who have already made this decision will have a
chance to share their story and review the Bridge Illustration.
Leader’s Heart Prep
Read John 18-20:20 and Ephesians 6:10-18. One of the greatest defenses we have
against our enemy, Satan, is knowing that while in the heat of the battle, we will eventually
win. Satan, the Accuser, lies to us, tempts us, and tries to make us doubt God's love for us.
As believers, one defense against Satan's lies is the Helmet of Salvation. The Helmet assures
us that God is for us and nothing can separate us from His love. This week read the passages
of how Jesus over- came death and raised triumphantly from the grave. Remind yourself of the
degree that Jesus went to in order to express His love and grace for you. No one can take this
away. Put on the Helmet of Salvation every day and stand firm against the enemy's temptations.
You are sure to win! Pray this week that all of your kids would trust Jesus and be assured of His
love and grace.

that would make it a fabulous week?"
SHARE about your week and give your answer to the above
question.
l Transition
SAY, "Most of us thought of at least one thing that would make our week better. In Large

[When it’s time for worship to begin, go with your kids to Large Group and be ready to
participate in worship. Sit with your group. Help children stay engaged in the teaching.]
Small Group
(20 minutes)
Today your Small Group Time is in the middle of the Large Group
teaching time. You’ll have 20 minutes to choose between the
activities.
There are two activities provided for Small Group time for you to
use. If you have seeker kids in your group, do the first activity,
“Leader’s Story.” If you have kids in your group who have already
heard the plan of salvation and have made the decision to follow
Jesus, do the second activity, “Review My Story and Bridge
Illustration.”

Kid Response Cards
Pencils
l Set-Up
GATHER your group into a circle.
l Instructions
ASK, "What questions do you have about what you just heard in Large Group concerning
how you can choose to accept Jesus' forgiveness and follow Him?"
SHARE briefly how you asked Jesus to be your Forever Friend by using the following guide.
The following will help you in telling your story. Use your time carefully, and keep your story
focused around salvation. Review your story using these three "Handles":
1. (BC) Where were you spiritually before receiving Christ? What were you like? What caused
you to consider God/Jesus?
2. (=) What realization did you come to that finally motivated you to decide to follow Jesus?
Specifically, how did you Admit, Believe, and Choose to become a Christian?
3. (AD) How did your life begin to change after becoming a Christian?
HAND a Kid Response Card to each child.
SAY, “Listen carefully as I read the following three statements. Mark only one on your card.”
¨
¨
¨
Today for the first time I prayed to ask for forgiveness and for Jesus to be my Forever
Friend.
I already prayed for Jesus' forgiveness and for Him to be my Forever Friend.
I want to think more about it.
HAVE kids fill out their Response Card and write their name and address on the back.
EXPLAIN, "If you prayed before today or if you prayed for the first time today, you are now in
God's family forever! If you did not pray today, remember that God loves you very much and
He still wants you to be a part of His family. The 'gift' is always available whenever you are
ready to receive it."
ENCOURAGE kids to talk to you if they have any questions.
COLLECT all of the Kid Response Cards.

Doing Life With God in the Picture - Year 2
SG - Lesson 1 - Spring Quarter
1)
God wants to have a relationship with us. DRAW a stick figure with "Us" written below it.
Draw another stick figure to the right of the first and write "God" under it.
2)
But we disobeyed God and broke the relationship. We call this sin. Our sins separate us
from God.
3)
DRAW a horizontal line under each stick figure and two vertical lines, creating a chasm
between the two figures.
4)
We try to fix the relationship by doing good things (deeds) to get back to God, but it
doesn't work.
5)
The punishment for sin, which is disobeying God, is death. The Bible says in Romans
6:23, "The wages of sin is death." WRITE the word "Death" under the drawing.
6)
God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross. His death built a
bridge for us to come back to Him.
7)
DRAW a cross in the middle which connect the figures-creating a bridge.
8)
Jesus paid our punishment for sin by dying on the cross. He died in our place. CROSS out
the word "Death".
9)
Just knowing about the bridge isn't enough. In order to get back to God, we must
Admit our sins, Believe Jesus died to pay for our sins, and Choose to accept His
forgiveness and follow Him.
10)
WRITE the letters "A", "B", "C" above the illustration.
11)
HAVE kids draw and share the Bridge Illustration with their partner on their Bridge
Illustration Sheets.
l Wrap Up
SAY, "Some of you may have questions or may not be ready to pray
and make the decision for Jesus to be your Forever Friend. It is
okay to have questions. I encourage you to seek out answers by
talking to me or someone else here at church."
CONTINUE, "If you leave here remembering only one thing,
remember that WINNING THE BATTLE STARTS BY CHOOSING A
RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. In Large Group we will hear a little more
of what we need when we are in a battle."

"Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against
the devil's schemes." – Ephesians 6:11
REMIND the kids, "This verse means that when we are on God's side, we can use the
armor of God to defend ourselves against Satan's attacks."
At this point be sure to give each child 1 Promiseland BUCK just for being at church
today. You can remind them that they can earn BUCKS by memorizing verses (5 BUCKS),
attending (1 BUCK), bringing a friend (1 BUCK), etc.

l Prayer
ASK KIDS if there’s anything they would like prayer for. Write their requests in your Small
Group Prayer Notebook. Invite kids to pray.
END PRAYER WITH, Please help our friendships grow with You. Remind those of us who
trust You that we are saved and that can never be taken away. Please also help answer any
questions we may still have.
[Small Groups return to the Large Group area for the remaining of the teaching time. If you did
not get through all of your wrap up, or have time to work on the memory verse, you can do so if
there is time after the Large Group teaching is finished.]
Kid Connection Continues …
Small Group Leaders, use this time to continue to build community and learn more about your kids
and their concerns. Listen closely so you are better equipped to pray for and reach out to each child.
At the end of the service time encourage kids to work on memorizing their Bible verses and earn
Promiseland Bucks. Show them the Promiseland Store and help them to shop with their Bucks.
[Give a parent letter to each child when they are dismissed.]
