THE CHALLENGE
DOWL is an engineering firm with over 475
employees, based in Alaska and with offices in
seven other states. Although DOWL had been
working with Honcoop Technology Services
since 2008, the company merged with HKM
Engineering, Inc., not only doubling the size
of the company, but complicating the WAN
system. Since DOWL had worked with Honcoop
for an Exchange update and a new phone
system deployment, the company felt confident
in Honcoop’s ability to handle the merger from
an IT perspective.

Since 2008, Honcoop Technology Services has

THE SOLUTION
Realizing that the growing pains associated
with a merger needed immediate support and
staff training, DOWL realized that their internal
IT department would need assistance with the
network merger. DOWL worked with Honcoop
directly to find a solution that worked, while
facing complex projects and short timeframes
to configure the solutions. Throughout the
entire process, HTS provided an Exchange
upgrade, WAN upgrade, and network changes
with switch & router upgrades between the two
companies (2008), ShoreTel phones (2007/2008),
virtualization to Hyper-V environment (2010)
with an upgrade in 2012, and WAN upgrade,
including Cisco routers (2014).
THE RESULTS
Since the solutions have been implemented,
DOWL has improved network performance.
The multiple offices are interconnected, making
projects and communication more efficient. The
network is stable, freeing up time for employees
to concentrate on projects. Honcoop’s level of
expertise leaves the employees with confidence
that they are getting the most value out of the
services. Not only is DOWL pleased with the
technical proficiency and responsiveness of
Honcoop, but how Honcoop takes the time to
make sure that the employees understand the
