Pastoral Message
We would like to thank the Asselborn family for their generous donation of $10,050, which they made in honor of their
mother, Loretta Asselborn.
It is because of this donation and the commitment of all our parishioners that we have raised $33,370 to date to use towards the Parish Center roof repair project.
We have met with Olsson Roofing and will schedule a tentative date in late September to have the roof done. As of today
we are $11,630 short of the $45,000 needed for this project, but we are confident we will have the necessary funds to
complete this project before the end of the year.

The 2015 Saint Vincent de Paul Challenge between Father Tim and Father Cortés.
How many rounds will they last?
St. Vincent de Paul is one of the largest ministries in our parish. It is through this ministry that many
individuals and families receive spiritual and monetary help. Our faith turns into action when we help
others, our faith is not a dead faith because it turns to concrete deeds for the poor and the needy. These
are the works and the worship that pleases God.
Dear brothers and sisters, on September 26 we will have our “walk” to help this ministry. As part of this
activity there is a challenge between Father Tim and Father Oscar. Each parish will be helping with donations to this
ministry and I need your help to beat the “opponent”. I know it will be a difficult fight but with your help I know I can do
it. Thank you for any donations made in favor of the poor.

Roof repair contribution
Thanks to the generosity of Loretta Asselborn, St. Rita is
closer to completely funding the roof repairs we desperately
need at the parish center.
In a letter to Father Cortés, Ms. Asselborn’s children stated
that “per our mother’s wishes, in her will she requested that
a gift from her be given to St. Rita’s in her memory.”
In the letter the Asselborn family stated that the donation of
$10,050 is to be used “to repair the Parish Center Roof.”
Loretta, who was 95 at the time of her passing, was described
by her family as someone whose “faith was also a very important part of her life.”

Great Lakes Catholic Men’s Conference
Saturday, November 21, 2015
The 21st annual Great Lakes Catholic Men’s Conference
will be held at the Holmes Student Center at Northern
Illinois University, DeKalb, IL, on Saturday, November
21, 2015 from 8:50 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets include lunch
and free parking. Cost is $35 if registered by the early bird
deadline of November 2nd, $40 after, $45 AT THE
DOOR; $15 for college students or younger, $5 for deacons.

Bishop David Malloy invite all teens (grades 8-12) to
join him for a day of Faith and fun! The Youth Summit
will take place on Sunday, October 25 at Rock Valley
College, 3301 North Mulford Road, Rockford IL 61114.
Registration is from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and ends at 5
p.m. As we experienced last year, this promises to be a
high-impact spiritual experience for the youth of our
diocese.
Our very own Transitional Deacon, Kyle Manno, will
Emcee the event. The cost for all teens for the day is
$25 which includes a box lunch and a T-shirt. The cost
for chaperones is $15 which also includes a lunch and a
T-shirt.

¡Queremos dar las gracias a la familia Asselborn por su generosa donación de $10,050 que hicieron en honor a su madre, Loretta
Asselborn.
Es debido a este donativo y al compromiso de todos nuestros feligreses que hasta la fecha hemos recaudado $33,370 para ser utilizados para el proyecto de reparación del techo del Centro Parroquial.
Nos hemos reunido con Olsson Roofing y programaremos una fecha tentativa a finales de septiembre para que se termine el trabajo del techo. Hasta el día de hoy nos faltan $11,630 dólares de los $45,000 necesarios para terminar con este proyecto, pero estamos seguros de que tendremos los fondos necesarios para terminar este proyecto antes de fin de año.

El reto 2015 de “San Vicente de Paul entre Padre Tim y Padre Cortés. ¿Cuántos rounds van a aguantar?
San Vicente de Paul es uno de los grandes ministerios de nuestra parroquia. Es a través de este ministerio que muchas personas y familias reciben ayuda espiritual y económica. Nuestra fe se vuelve
acción en cuando ayudamos a los demás; nuestra fe no es una fe muerta por que se traduce en
obras concretas en favor de los más pobres y necesitados. Estas son las obras y el culto que agrada a
Dios.
Queridos amigos, el 26 de septiembre tendremos la “caminata” para ayudar a este ministerio. Como parte de esta actividad hay un reto entre el Padre Tim y el Padre Oscar. Cada parroquia estará
ayudando con donaciones para este ministerio así que necesito tu ayuda para vencer al “contrincante.” Sé que es una pelea difícil pero con la ayuda de ustedes lo puedo lograr. Muchas gracias por cualquier donación que hagan en favor de los pobres.

Contribución para las reparaciones del techo
Gracias a la generosidad de Loretta Asselborn Santa Rita se
encuentra más cerca de tener los fondos necesarios para
cubrir la reparación que se necesita con urgencia en el techo del centro parroquial.
En una carta enviada al padre Oscar Cortés los hijos de la
Sra. Asselborn indicaron que “por deseo expreso de nuestra madre en su testamento ella pidió que se diera un regalo a Santa Rita en su memoria”.
En dicha carta la familia Asselborn indicó que el donativo
de $10,050 debía ser usado “para reparar el techo del Centro Parroquial”.
Loretta, quien tenía 95 años al momento de fallecer, fue
descrita por su familia como alguien cuya “fe también fue
una parte muy importante de su vida”.
