Eric Adkins – Director of Photography
Eric Adkins brings twenty years of features, commercials and music
video experience to light. His work as Director of Photography on Kerry
Conran’s, Sky Captain And The World of Tomorrow, as well as the
Stop-motion - Director of Photography on Tim Burton’s, Mars Attacks!
and Eddie Murphy’s, The PJ's and as VFX Director of Photography on
House, MD for three seasons, brings a powerful mix of creative imagery
infused with high technology to the table.
Adkins was born in Portland, Oregon. At age 16, already a nationally
honored student photojournalist, he began his film career by projecting a
re-issued print of Lawrence of Arabia, for a local northwest cinema chain.
“Movies were no longer just an activity,” Adkins says. “The repeated daily
viewings created an opportunity to analyze scene construction, without
ever losing the emotional impact that they had on me.”
After receiving his BFA from California Institute of the Arts, in the
live action film and video program, Adkins has worked with a wide range of
talented actors, animators, and directors, riding the wave of digital
composite works, mixing live action, miniatures and CG animation. Adkins
is
also
an
active
member
of
the
American
Society
of
Cinematographer's (ASC) Technology Committee regarding Camera
and Digital Workflow Assessment. Commercial clients, include Bacardi,
ESPN, Coca Cola, Converse, FILA, Nintendo, Orange, Levi Strauss,
Nabisco, Kellogg, Maynards, Orkin, Del Labs, Dow, Chase
Manhattan, Southwest Bell, and USPS.
