The story of creation - Phillipine folklore
This year's Maginoo at Binibining
Filipino News (MAB) show began with
the re-enactment of a mythical story of
creation, Philippines-style.
The lead roles of Malakas (Strong) and
Maganda (Beautiful) were played by last
year's MAB winners, PeeJay Soler,
Maginoo Filipino News and Ayla
Matencio, Binibining Filipino News.
The pair emerge from a big bamboo tree
and walk into a wonderland. A King Bird,
a messenger of God, greets them and takes
them on a tour of this verdant land.
The Bird informs them that God has
gifted them with everything that they see
before them.
It goes without saying that Malakas and
Maganda, the first Filipinos, live happily
ever after in paradise (Philippines) and
bear children (the first Filipinos).
At this point some readers may draw
comparisons to the Biblical Adam and Eve
story. Mabuhay!
