exception of Mondays. (Except 20 August)
We recommend the Szentendre boat trip to families with small
children, since it reaches its destination in 1.5 hours. Visitors
to this historic city will truly experience a feeling of travelling
in time when visiting the Szentendre Open Air Museum or the
city’s historic centre with its winding narrow streets dotted
with little shops, street vendors, and restaurants.
The bus line between Szentendre and Pilisszentlászló provides
access to several scenic hiking trails. Via the Apátkúti Valley
(Kaán Spring, Arboretum, Ördögmalom Waterfall), Visegrád
is only a pleasant walk away from the pleasant village of Pilisszentlászló and its Alpine-like settings, but more experienced
hikers can take the national Blue Trail to cross Pap Meadow,
Barát-halom (with a view onto the Danube Bend), and NagyVillám Peak (bus) and thus make their way to Visegrád. Dömös is also accessible from Pilisszentlászló by way of Prédikálószék or the Szőke Spring Valley.
From station to station:
Sights in Szentendre: Imre Ámos – Saint Margit Exhibit; The
Barcsay Collection; Ferenczy Museum; Czóbel Museum;
Margit Kovács Ceramic Exhibit; Szentendre Gallery; Szentendre Open Air Museum; Marzipan Museum.

The service is available every day between 1 May and 31 August 2014 (+ 9 June
except 20 August), with the exception of Mondays, as well as 6-27 September
2014 on Saturdays.
A little baroque treasure chest, Vác is located only 30
km from Budapest in the Danube Bend region on the left
bank of the Danube, in one of Hungary’s most scenic
areas. The buildings, narrow streets, hauntingly beautiful
Danube Banks, numerous historical monuments, and
exhibits are all worth the visit.
The country’s only arc de triumph, stone bridge adorned
with baroque statues, and the first railway are all located
here, as well as the recently discovered mummies now
housed in the Memento Mori exhibit. The promenade
along the Danube bank is unique in its beauty, the
guardrails of which are built of the wrought iron rails
in front of the Parliament. Walking around the city, you
can also visit the monumental cathedral and the newly
renovated baroque main square, which is home to
numerous concerts and events throughout the year.
From station to station:
A rich variety of programs are available in the city’s main
square even on weekdays. The events of the Váci Világi
Vigalom [Vác Worldwide Celebration] are exceptionally
rich and diverse (18-20 July 2014). Approximately 100
free programs offer a great opportunity for relaxing
during this three day event.

From station to station:
The city of Visegrád is located in the heart of the Danube Bend
region and has played a prominent role in both Hungarian and
European history for more than a thousand years. The castle,
built by King Béla IV in the 1250’s, is a very popular tourist
destination. The Holy Crown of Hungary was kept here for 200
years. The mountain castle is the best known member of the
Visegrád castle network (castle on the water, lower castle, upper
castle), since it is visible from a great distance from all directions
and is the most frequent destination for hikes and trips to Visegrád. The restored rooms of the castle provide beautiful views
of the Danube Bend and contain historic exhibits. This year, the
very popular Visegrád International Palace Games will be held
on 11-13 July 2014. Take a VOLÁNBUSZ Zrt. bus back to Budapest, which takes you to Budapest, Újpest-Városkapu Station.

After a break of many years, our boats once again stop at
the Dömös Pier. We hope this makes trips to the Visegrád
Mountains even more colourful. Marked hiking trails take you
up to the Rám Chasm or Dobogókő.
In addition to containing periodical exhibits, the Dömös Gallery
and Local History Exhibit, found in the Community Centre,
present a sample of the work of local artists in a permanent
exhibit. Provostship ruins: The Romanesque provostship was
built around 1107. The triple nave Romanesque church has
a semicircular sanctuary at one end, and its crypt is one of
the most important Árpád Era buildings in the Danube Bend
Region.
From station to station:
The most scenic hiking trails in the Visegrád Mountains, or in
fact in all of Hungary, start from Dömös. You can climb up to
the Prédikálószék by way of the Szőke Spring Valley and the
rugged peaks of the Vadálló-kövek, from where you can enjoy
an unparalleled panorama of the region. Or, if you wish to listen
to the burble of a stream, take a trip to the Rám Chasm and
return to the Danube via the less menacing Lukács Valley. A
longer option would be to head up to Dobogókő via Téry út,
with refreshing springs at Fényes-forrás and Ilona-pihenő.

This is where King Stephen I, who established the state of
Hungary and was canonized in 1083, was born and where he
was crowned king in 1001. Tourists arriving in the city by boat
disembark at the pier just above the Mária Valéria Bridge, close
to the primateship palace, the royal palace, the basilica, and
the statue of the crowning of Saint Stephen. The Castle Hill
is the best place to start to learn a little about the history of
Esztergom.
Hungary’s first ranking and also largest church is the classicistic
basilica in Esztergom. Both the cupola and the treasury are
amazing things to behold. The remaining and rebuilt parts of
the former royal palace and subsequent palace of the primacy
houses the Castle Museum, which exhibits artefacts among
the medieval rooms and frescoes.
