soon realise that the trip to Gornergrat is an essential excursion.
Its sunny viewing platform, accessible all year, makes the
Gornergrat ridge a top destination – and not just because of its
altitude. Surrounded by 29 peaks rising above 4000 m and by
Switzerland’s greatest mountain, the Matterhorn, and second
largest glacier in the Alps, it offers a spectacular mountain panorama second to none. And the “Matterhorn Railway” renders
it so close you can almost touch it. For more than 115 years the
Gornergrat Bahn has been making the ascent to the panoramic
mountain a truly unique and wonderful experience.

From Zermatt, the popular holiday resort in the Valais, Europe’s
highest open-air cogwheel railway departs daily every 24 minutes,
climbing to the Gornergrat 9339 m away. The train crosses impressive bridges, galleries and tunnels, idyllic forests and alpine
meadows, past rocky gorges and tarns, accompanied by the
majestic mountains, first and foremost by the Matterhorn.

Audio climate trail to the Monte Rosa hut
The Gornergrat Bahn and myclimate present the Audio Climate
Trail. The audio tour leads from Zermatt to Rotenboden
(2815 m a.s.l.) and to the Monte Rosa hut (2883 m a.s.l.). During
the approx. three-hour hike, nine five-minute talks on climate
history take you into another time, another climate, another geography. We recommend a certified mountain guide for hikes on
the Gorner glacier. The audio guides (G, E, F) can be hired at
Zermatt Tourism, the Alpin Center Zermatt or the Gornergrat
Bahn (deposit required). More info at www.klimahoerpfad.ch.
The audio guide is also recommended for a Gornergrat excur­
sion. You can listen to the content during the trip, on the viewing platform or at a quiet spot along the tour.

marked bike routes at your disposal. Enjoy travelling on board
the highest outdoor cogwheel railway in Europe up the

Riffelhaus 1853 – The Ultimate Ski in & Out
At Riffelhaus, situated 2500 metres above sea level, the majestic

Grand Hotel Zermatterhof – The Small Grand Hotel
Since 1879, the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof has been welcoming
illustrious guests to the luxurious comfort of its ve-star surround­
ings. This small grand hotel at the foot of the Matterhorn has
always strived to o er guests the warmest possible welcome.

Single and double rooms, junior suites and luxury suites, some
with their own fireplace and whirlpool. Additional features:

Restaurants and bars
The restaurants at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof are an invitation to experience gourmet cuisine at its finest: specialities from
the Valais region in the elegant Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni restaurant, light cuisine in the Brasserie Lusi or delicious cheese
specialities in the «saycheese!». Two bars and the Smokers Loun­
ge are popular places to meet.
Alpine spa

The equipment in the Conference Centre at the Zermatterhof is

Package Gornergrat 360
Being close to the Matterhorn and feeling the power of the
mountains is something that you should do more than once a
year, and certainly at least once in your life!
We have put together the Gornergrat 360 experience package
to allow you to see the mountain of mountains from very different angles.
A stay of 3 nights is included in the basic offer
2 nights at the foot of the Matterhorn at an altitude of 1600
metres above sea level in the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, follow­
ed by a choice of 1 night in the Riffelhaus 1853, the highest fourstar hotel in the Alps, situated at 2500 metres above sea level
and with fantastic views of the Matterhorn, or 1 night at the
3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat at 3100 metres above sea level,
where you can almost reach out and touch the magnificent
mountains, including the Matterhorn.
For example, you can extend your stay in the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, the Riffelhaus 1853 or the 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat, or perhaps stay for 1 night in each of the three hotels
(offer subject to availability and season).
