Thousands of us in your body can make you very sick!
Here are some family pictures, take a look! We just
love it when you walk around barefoot … that’s how we
get inside you (when we’re little bitty babies)”.

Quote of the

“They say that
blood is the river if
life but we like to
think of it as the
river of death …
that’s just the way
we are”
BLOOD POISONING BACTERIA Page 1
“Hi, my name is Staphylococcus aureus, but you can
call me Staph for short. When my fellow bacteria and
I get into your blood stream we POISON your Blood.
Once in your blood we act very fast. We can make you
very sick…or even very DEAD! Sorry about that!
Here are a few of the many different bacteria that
cause blood poisoning: “

goody goody relatives are helping you digest food and
make vitamins, we are out to make you real sick! They
call us a bad strain and have even given us a number:
0157:H7. We especially like to hurt small children and
old folks.

“I am one of the century’s most formidable
health threats. I am a virus that can conquer
your immune system. Once I weaken the
immune system, sickness or death results
from microorganisms or cancer cells that
your body’s natural defenses would normally
defeat. They call me Human
Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and I cause
the disease AIDS.

We cause a disease known as Trichinosis. Right
now we live in a piece of infected meat (see

we gotcha!!!!!
We eat holes in your muscle and build little
houses called cysts. We make your muscles ache

“I am an elite soldier of your immune system. I am
called a Lymphocyte and I am a type of white blood
cell. Parasites and cancer cells fear for their lives
when I come on to the scene. One of my worst
enemies is the virus. The only way I can defeat them
is by destroying the body cells that they hide in. That
is why I cannot rid your body of a virus. Once they
invade, they are there to stay. But I will do my best
to keep them under control!”

“Hey, good to see you again! You’ve know about us for a loooong time
(since 1877).
We cause skin problems if we get into a cut and could even kill you if
you inhale us into your lungs.
With medicine, you can destroy us if you get treatment early enough.
We like to let you think you’re just getting a cold and then we hit you
hard.
Facts about
ANTHRAX
- caused by Bacillus anthracis bacteria
- mostly found in animals such as horses, sheep, goats, and mules
- rare in humans. Only about 1 in 100,000 people who are exposed actually get the disease (from animals).
- Skin Anthrax: bacteria enter through cuts and scratches on skin.
- Intestinal Anthrax: you must eat infected, undercooked meat. This is very rare in developed countries.
- Inhalation Anthrax: dried spores are inhaled. Most dangerous form.
- All forms of the disease can be treated with antibiotics but inhalation anthrax must be treated early.
- anthrax is not passed on from person to person.
- anthrax can kill you.
- anthrax can be used as a biological weapon.
