New company The Powder Room Girls aims to take beauty to
the next level by providing a professional make-up, hair and
beauty service to hotels and other corporate sectors - often
outside normal working hours. Founders of the business, makeup artist Rhona Cullinan, and hair stylist Susan Peggs, currently
have almost 40 make-up artists, 20 beauty therapists and nail
technicians and 20 hair stylists on the books. The business also
offers a work experience programme, where recently qualified
therapists can gain 'hands-on' experience. "Everybody who
works for us has either been trained assessed or are people
we have worked with in the past," explains Rhona. "All of our teams are led by professionals and assisted by trainees who will be
contracted when they have built up the required experience and skills." Both Rhona and Susan are tutors at The lrish Academy of
Massage and Beauty Training but Rhona says that all newly qualified therapists from accredited courses are welcome to apply for
place in the agency, although they must have their own insurance. For more details log onto wwwthepowderroomgirls.com

Bod infection
A client of mine recently mentioned to me that a friend of hers told her that
her mother had got a very bad infection a couple of days after having a
pedicure in my salon. The client, who is also a friend of mine. defended my
reputation but I don't understand how this lady got the infection in the first
place; I always, without fail, sterilize all my tools and equipment. Could it be
an unfortunate co-incidence or could I have possibly done something to bring
this infection about?
