GREENING YOUR POSSIBILITIES
Did you know that the Avondale Meadows
Y is a Leed Silver Certified Building? At the
Y, we are committed to being a socially
responsible organization. That means caring
for our neighbors, our community, and our
environment. We have taken many steps to
make the Y a "greener" place to be. You can
help too!.
PUTTING OUR PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE
All YMCA members, program participants,
and staff are expected to interact with one
another using our four core values of caring,
honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Throw away plastic water bottles in the recycling
boxes throughout the facility
• Turn off your TV when you finish using cardio
equipment
• Use fewer towels to reduce loads of laundry
• Reduce shower time to save water
• Bring your old batteries and electronics during
our bi-annual recycling drives
• Do you have a suggestion to help us conserve
energy? Share your ideas!
CAN WE PRAY FOR YOU?
Our leadership team meets to better guide
and focus our Center. Because of our Christian
heritage, we begin every meeting with
devotion and prayer. Can we pray for you? Let
us know ... drop your request in the prayer
box located in the chapel.

ANNUAL CAMPAIGN
The Annual Campaign allows us to provide
membership rates and program fees based
on total household income. The YMCA is able
to offer this sliding fee scale thanks to the
generous donors whose contributions enable
us to realize our mission of being open and
accessible to all.
A complete listing of all donors may be found
online at www.OurCauseIsYou.org. Thank you
to all who have helped!
Your gifts are needed to keep the YMCA open
to all. With your help, kids can go to camp,
families can enjoy the enriching environment,
teens can learn valuable life skills, and seniors
can find a place to socialize. In 2015, our
Association goal was to raise $3 million.

EARLY LEARNING CENTER
(Ages 3-5yrs) The Early Learning Center is a
fully state licensed program that
provides two healthy snacks and meals,
provides two gross motor activity sessions
daily, and utilizes two evidence-based
curriculums to support learning:
The Creative Curriculum is a YMCA
preferred curriculum that's used as a
framework to support child-centered learning
and social emotional development.
This research-based curriculum helps teachers
understand developmentally appropriate
practices and how to provide meaningful
experiences that respond to children's
strengths, interest, and needs.
The Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence
Curriculum proves sequenced content, skill
guidelines, and developmentally appropriate
practices for the education of young children.
The curriculum supports oral language and
provides a strong foundation for formal
written literacy skills.
For more information, please pick up an
Early Learning Center packet at the
membership desk; come in for a tour of

YOUTH SPORTS SPONSORSHIP
Do you own a business and looking for a
unique way to market your company as well
as help out the community? By sponsoring a
youth sports team or event, your company
will receive publicity throughout the program!
Plus, you will be able to give kids, with limited
resources, an opportunity to participate in
a sports team! For more information email
Carrie McDonald at [email protected].
Whether you miss "suiting up" or are new to
team sports, the Y's adult sports provide a
perfect opportunity to be active, social and
reconnect or start fresh with a sport you love.
Basketball, Dodgeball, and Volleyball are just
some of the options available to get you back
on the court or on the field.
VOLUNTEER COACHING
Want to develop a closer, more meaningful
relationship with your son/daughter? Become
a volunteer coach. The YMCA promotes family,
leadership, relationship, and community
through coaching youth sports. We can always
use good role models! Please stop by the
member services desk for more information or
if you have questions.

COACHES TRAINING
Anyone interested in volunteering as youth
sports coach is required to participate in
the YMCA Coaches Training sessions prior
to the start of each season. The coach's
trainings are not just another "meeting", but
much more than that, offering leadership
for volunteer coaches, learning the YMCA
way of youth sports, skill development, and
program development. It is important that
coaches are aware of YMCA Sports principles,
making certain that positive competition in
youth sports is a positive experience for kids,
parents, coaches, referees, and spectators.
