a) Special prize in the amount of 1000 Euros for the best interpretation of a Franz Liszt composition,
sponsored by the Deutsche Lisztgesellschaft. b) For the best interpretation of a Joseph Haydn piano
sonata: A piano evening in the Streingraeber Rokokosaal during the Bayreuth Festival with a concert fee
of 1000 Euros, sponsored by the piano manufacturer Steingraeber & Söhne. The concert instrument will
be the Liszt grand piano of Eduard Steingraeber. c) Scholarship for the best Eastern European
participant (prize winners excluded) for one semester at The LISZT UNIVERSITY of Music Weimar. This
prize is sponsored by Dr. Rainer Braunschweig (Munich). d) Audience award to the amount of 1000
Euros, sponsored by Klavierhaus Michael Fiech.

Participation Rules
1.The 6th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities who
were born after January 1978.
2.The competition is open to the public in all rounds. The order of performance for the competitors
is determined by random selection in the form of a lottery system.
3.The order of works to be performed in each level can be determined by the candidate. After
registration, the programme can no longer be altered. All works must be performed from
memory.

4.The first round of the competition will take place in Bayreuth and all other rounds will take place
in Weimar.
5.The prize winners must accept their prize in person. Prizes will be awarded directly following the
final concert. It is obligatory for the prize winner to take part in a prize winner's concert in
Bayreuth without receiving a fee.
6.The competition may be recorded or transmitted and all recordings are the property of The
LISZT School of Music Weimar.
7.Participants pay for hotel and travel costs themselves. International participants, especially from
Eastern Europe, may apply for a subsidy for these costs. No one is automatically entitled to
receive a subsidy.
8.The competition will cover accommodation costs in prearranged facilities for candidates who
have reached the second.
9.The decision of the jury is final. An appeal of the decision is not possible.
10.At registration, the candidates must state that they agree to the rules and regulations of the
competition, as well as possible changes in the jury.
