Freely inspired by the renowned fable by Jean de La Fontaine, this choreographic work casts a glance at the world of art and agriculture. From the sowing of the seed to the harvest, the production paints a down to earth, poetic vision of the world of the artist and of the small farmer and transports us to the heart of life, into the difficulty and beauty of the ordinary. * Teacher’s guide available > Elementary and high school ACUNA WORKSHOP/SHOW Choreography and interpretation: Amandine Garrido Gonzalez new creation May 1 to 4 2017, 10:00 AM & 1:00 PM Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré $9 per student [+ tax] Duration: 30 min. show / 30 min. workshop Audience: 50 places Acuna is a cradle, a nest, a cocoon. A soft and intimate space where one feels enveloped in softness. It’s the arrival into the world, into a universe of colors, of sensations and of mouvement. It’s where nature and the swarming of new life meet. Acuna is a choreographic work where dance and circus arts come together, inspired by children’s unique view as they set out to discover the world that surrounds them. Presented in collaboration with Côté scène and Petits bonheurs Sherbrooke. > preschool and Grades 1-2 workshopS Creative Dance at school > preschool January to April 2017 $100 per workshop for one class [+ tax] Worshop duration: 60 min. Offered directly in the kindergarten classroom, this workshop includes a warm-up, games using muscle-memory and the invention of movements as well as the creation of short choreographies. The workshop allows children to have fun all the while discovering their physical capabilities and skills as well as the infinite possibilities of movement. dancer-performer: The profession > Grades 5-6 and highschool January 16 to 20 and February 13 to 17 2017 Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré $15 per student [+ tax] for a half-day (2.5 hrs) $25 per student [+ tax] for a full day (5 hrs) The company invites students to experience a day in the life of a dancer working for a professional company. Participants will discover the day to day life of a dance artist, as well as getting acquainted with the repertoire and creative process of the Sursaut Dance Company. The activity begins with a contemporary dance training class, followed by time to learn excerpts from the company’s repertoire and to create choreographies. workshop/show > Elementary and high school April and May 2017 Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré $8 per student [+ tax] Workshop duration: 75 min. In this workshop, the company takes students into the world of choreographic creation. First, students attend a presentation of excerpts from one or more of the company’s productions. They are then invited to take an active part in the creative process to invent short choreographies with the dancers and the choreographer. A fun and creative workshop that allows students to open themselves up to the imaginary world of movement and to discover what dancers and choreographers’ work is all about. choreographic creation > teachers January 21 and 22 2017, 10 :00 AM to 4:30 PM Centre des arts de la scène Jean-Besré $75 for both days [+ tax] The artistic director invites teachers to dive into the world of movement and to have fun creating short choreographies, starting from guided explorations and muscle-memory games. This workshop will provide participants with different tools for experiencing the creative process in dance, allowing them to in turn pass on the pleasure of inventing movement to their students.
