“We’re a solutions company, we’re really trying to show that,” says Keith Yanke, Senior Director of Product
Marketing for NEC Display Solutions. “We want to try to sell the complete solution.”
One of the first ways they showed this initiative was with their line of short-throw projectors. NEC works with
partners to create full solutions for integrators and resellers to install for their customers. The company pairs
software, racks, cables, hardware, and projectors in 1x2, 1x3, and 1x4 configurations with installation guides.
This allows the projection solution to cover over different, pre-existing whiteboards in boardrooms and
classrooms.
The NEC X464UNS, with 2x2 46-inch
screens separated by sub-4mm bezels,
was introduced for the first time at the
show.
Solutions aren’t the only reason NEC Display Solutions thrives. They showed off some new products at the
show as well.
In November and December, NEC Display Solutions will begin to roll-out their new line of solid-state
projectors, that is projectors that use a light source other than a lamp (as in LED, laser, or laser and phosphor
wheel combination). Lamps run for about 1000-10000 hours lifetime depending on usage, while solid-state can
run upwards of 20000 hours lifetime. While solid-state projectors aren’t field serviceable yet, a quick trip to a
service center and the light sources can be switched out. Solid state can also tilt at any angle without damaging
the product.
The PX 602 is their first high brightness solid state projector, available in wide XGA or wide UXGA. The
company also showed off the NC1040 L cinema product, great at the movies or in large presentation areas. This
is a purely laser light source, with one laser module providing 5000 laser lumens, with a second available to be
added to reach 10000 lumens. Finally, NEC showed off the industry’s first 4k compact projector, the PH1201
QL. With 3-chip DPL at 120000 lumens, 4Kx2K resolutions, and laser-phosphor light source, the picture
quality was beautiful.

NEC Display Solutions isn’t only interested in displaying video, they offer a line of desktop products for all of
your needs. “We have 52 different models available through NEC,” says Kevin Christopherson, Director of
Product Marketing for Desktop Displays.
The company announced two new UHD desktop products. The Multisync PA 322UHD is a benchmark for
color accuracy. The products boasts a 31.5-inch screen with UHD resolution and 140 PPI, and the capability to
split up to four quadrants with different feeds brought in through two display ports and DVI dvi ports. With the
built-in Display Sync Pro, the desktop can have multiple inputs from Macs, PCs, etc. and control them with one
mouse and keypad.
The EA244UHD is an enterprise or entry level professional graphics desktop that can be used by anyone. With
in plane switching (IPS), this product has the most accurate color representations, the widest viewing field, and
a broader color spectrum. As well as the quadrant split ability, this desktop offers many green features,
including a Human Sensor which detects if a user has left using infrared and goes into a 98% power save mode.
When the user returns it pops back into the previous state. It also offers an ambient light sensor that can
automatically dim the screen.

Other desktop displays shown at the event included the EA294WM with a 21:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio. The
desktop can split down the middle into two screens with two separate inputs. The PA272W is the sweet spot for
graphics, animation, and photography. Finally, the E232WMT is NEC Display Solutions’ only touch model
desktop, with ten pointsd of touch, dual microphones, speakers, and a full HD built in camera for
videoconferencing capabilities.
“We’re the only manufacturer that can provide our customers with 4K UHD projector, display, or desktops,”
says Yanke.
