The two operational amp lifie rs ZlA and ZlB operate in the
i n v e r ting mode .
The f e e db a c k r e s i s tor s R5 . R7. Re. RI J a nd R14
set the gain of ZlA .
Like wi s e . RG, Rll and Rl 2 determi ne the gain
of Z1B .
Th e gain of these two ampl ifi er a is l owe r e d by 20 dB whe n
the modu l e connector p2 . p imJ 6 and 14. as well as pins 7 and 15
a re strapped together .
The output of ZlA is connected to the i n v er ti ng i n p u t of
Z2 through RlS. whi le t h e output of Zl B connects to the no n- i nve r t i ng
i nput of Z2 via RIG .
Thus, zz provides a differentia l input to the
i ncoming signal and changes the balanced opera tion t o an unb ala nc e d
one .
Whether the i n pu t s o urce impe"ance is balanced or unb ala nc e d,
the signal le vel out of Z2 will , for like input l e vels fran e ithe r
kind of source , remain constant .

The output of zz is c o u p l e d through C16 to t h e fron t panel
gain cont rol R23 .
This gain control can be an external one, and
can be l oc a t e d up to 20 feet frexn the amplifier .

1 3 and 5.
The wipe r arm of the internal or the e x t e r na l gain
control is connl!'!cted to the input of the power amplifier vi a the
contacts of t he muting relay xi ,

Depending on the interface
t o o ther external control systems , i t may b e ne c e s s ary to operate
from a negative s upply .
