From Our Board President What great weather we have had in August. This month has proven to be a very busy month for Colonial Country Club. The CCC Ladies 49th Invita onal golf tournament took place earlier in the month with 73 women playing in a very well‐received event. Congratula ons to Kathy DeVore for taking home the trophy and making CCC proud. Speaking of proud, Colonial Country Club’s Club Championship tournament enjoyed 59 men and women who played over the past weekend. Congratula ons to Steve Lambert and Soo Kee Yang for winning this pres gious tournament. Tennis play and the pool have been busy as well. Con nue to come out to Cardio Tennis and enjoy the pool for one more week before its close on Labor Day. Not only is September bringing cooler temperatures and pre y weather, it is also bringing more fun events to CCC. The Men’s Member‐Member Golf tournament and the Couples Member‐Guest will be this month. Please plan on coming out and enjoying our great golf course. Something new to check out will be the exercise classes David has planned. Make sure to support these classes and finish up with a massage for those red muscles! Chef Jeff and his team have plenty of surprises in store with a new fall menu. Check it out! And Wednesday evening’s blue plate specials con nue to delight diners with a low cost family dinner night out. If you haven’t already enjoyed a Blue Plate, please plan on coming on a Wednesday – you will not be disappointed. As always, your Board of Directors con nue to oversee the judicious running of your club. Please con nue to support all aspects of CCC, and if you have sugges ons on fun events that you would like to see, make sure to talk to David. Here’s seeing you at Colonial Country Club, Robert Blakely From Our House Manager Well, the summer is coming to an end. It is amazing how me passes by so quickly. The past month has been busy with the 49th Ladies Invita onal, the Men’s Member Guest and the Club Championship. We have the Fall Member‐
Member right around the corner, so there is plenty of golf le in the year. We will con nue to have several fun events during the fall and winter months such as an Adult Halloween Party, Kids Haunted House, Peddlers Steak Night, Karaoke, Wine Tas ngs, etc. With plenty of golf le in the year, the fall is a good me to bring in new Members; the ini a on fee for full golf members and senior members is only $500.00, so if you know someone who is interested please have them contact Holly Calvert to learn more about the Club. With the upcoming Holiday season around the corner it is me to start planning your Holiday par es. Whether a small group or a large one, Colonial is a great place to have your event. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the raffle drawing for enhancement opportuni es to the golf course. The money that was raised will be used in many areas to improve the golf course. Currently, we are pu ng some of the funds to grind the stumps on holes 9, 16 & 17 and then followed up by sodding these areas back. In the upcoming months, we will be installing cobblestone rocks around some cart path edges that have been worn down by cart traffic. These small touches will keep CCC looking sharp. Summer is almost over but the golf course is s ll growing and the golf course maintenance staff is s ll repairing winter kill areas throughout the golf course. This past August 15 marks one year from the me we opened back up from the renova on. Over the last year, the golf course has matured and healed some but this will take a few more years to complete where we have sodded. Please be advised that over the next two months we will be increasing our mowing heights to protect the Bermuda grass so you may encounter some areas that look puffy or uncut due to this reason. I look forward to seeing everyone on the golf course very soon! Thanks, John T. Dawson, GCS and Birdie GOLF NEWS

ing the ball, remember to keep your back swing short and accelerate through the ball. Most people take too long of a back swing and decel‐
erate. REMINDER: We only have two months le for our a er 4:00pm special. Please come take advantage of playing 18 holes for just $10 a er 4:00pm! Also, our 19‐man qualifying starts September 5th. Ladies Invitational 2015
On August 7th - 9th , 2015, 73 women golfers from North Carolina and surrounding states
came to play in Colonial Country Club’s 49th Annual Ladies Invitational golf tournament.
Steeped in tradition, this tournament is one of the longest running ladies invitational
tournaments in North Carolina. Year after year, ladies from all over look forward to coming
to Colonial for the weekend to play in this well-known tournament and this year did not
disappoint.
The weather was amazing; the food as tasty as ever; the course in great shape and Ben and
his staff did a phenomenal job of running this tournament. Thanks to many of our club
members, our hole sponsorships were up this year (All Season’s Landscape Solutions, LLC;
Austin Group Furniture; Blakely Financial, Inc.; Cherry Bekaert, LLP; C2-Cooper Cockerham
Marketing Consultants; Gigi’s Beauty Secrets; Pam Cromer; McDonald’s of High Point/
HerJac, Inc.; Ben Miller, CCC Head Golf Professional; NCAEC; Elaine Schuermann; Payne Tax
Group, Inc.; Proforma Total Print Solutions; Viking Fire Protection, Inc.; and Will Hedgecock
at Reidsville Nissan for our Hole-In-One prize). We also appreciate all the ‘significant others’
and non-playing lady golfers who donated their time, talents and energy to help make this
tournament a success. By everyone supporting the CCC Ladies Golf Association and this very
important tournament, our group can continue to put on wonderful tournaments, get the
word out about how great CCC is, and give back to Colonial Country Club!
Although no one won the Hole-In-One contest, Kathy DeVore did manage to take home the
championship due to her great tournament play! Congratulations to Kathy and to all Flight
Winners!
It was a great weekend and the CCC Ladies Golf Association looks forward to next year’s big
50th Annual Invitational! Mark your calendars for August 5-7, 2016 – it will be the most
successful and biggest one ever!!
