Company Of the Year Award Winners—Young Enterprise Team On March 22nd our Year 12 Young Enterprise students from the company “Unbranded” a ended the area final in the hope that they would come away with an award for all of their hard work. However, they did not think that they would come away with the most coveted award of the night – “The Company of the Year”. The “Unbranded” company was formed as part of the Young Enterprise company project in October 2015. Quickly, they established that they wanted to successfully brand a product that would prove popular and useful. Thus, they decided upon a portable charger. Working together as a team, they came up with the company name and logo – “Unbranded” was born. Working with Mrs Southall (Assistant Head) and Mark Boulding Ben Hankin, Alfie Pyper, Jamie Milne, Georgia Head (Business advisor) they purchased their item, had it branded and began to sell their fantas c product at the low price of £10 per charger. Over the last few months, the students have worked extremely hard to form a successful company with a successful product, all while studying for their A‐levels! They have pitched their product to EE as well as Brookers who purchased a number of items to sell in all 3 of their stores. The company have also made links with Vinegar Hill and Sony World, so they are hoping to sell in these stores in the near future – watch this space! On the evening of the final, Georgia Head (Managing Director), Jamie Milne (Finance Director) and Alfie Pyper (Sales Director) took to the stage to present their product, only to be awarded the “Best Presenta on” award! They also took home the award for the “Best Trade Stand”. However, the jewel in the crown was when “Unbranded” were announced as “The Company of the Year” – needless to say, they were elated and overwhelmed! They are now preparing and looking forward to the county final on 27th April, where once again they will take to the stage and present their product in the hope that once again, they will receive the recogni on they deserve. They are also looking forward to branding other items such as t‐shirts, pens and badges which will be sold very soon. Well done “Unbranded”, we are very proud of you and all of your hard work! Keep up to date with “Unbranded” and buy one of their chargers for yourself, by visi ng their website www.unbranded.xyz or following them on twi er @unbranded_1 Mrs Southall You can s ll purchase your own UNBRANDED portable phone charger for only £10! It is slim, compact and stylish. More importantly, it has been designed by our fantas c Young Enterprise team. If you would like to purchase one see Mrs Southall or visit the website www.unbranded.xyz and email Georgia Head (managing director). The company have had great success so far winning a customer service award and also winning the coveted “Company of the Year” award at the recent area final. They are a ending the county final on 27th April, and we wish them luck in the hope that they will again, bring back some well‐deserved awards! 2 Teaching and Learning...
Spring Term in the Library A quick look back at the two major events in the Library this year so far, World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March and the North Herts Book Award on Wednesday 16th March 2016. Although World Book Day is officially only for one day, we decided to make our celebra ons last a whole week. There were book compe
ons in the Library every day and on World Book Day itself many of the staff dressed as characters from well known novels and students had to work out who we were! All students received their free £1 book voucher and the doors of form rooms in KS3 were turned into virtual libraries! One of the most exci ng events was our par cipa on in a Guinness World Record a empt for the largest number of people taking part in a simultaneous book quiz! Forms 8AA and 8GG took part in the quiz in Monday 22nd February 2016. We are pleased to announce that TPS was included in the final count for the record and we will be receiving our World Record cer ficate very soon!
