A Tower of Strength !
Illawarra rep. captain STEVE McCALLUM (Helensburgh) carries the nick-name “Tower”. He has certainly been a “Tower of Strength”
to the Illawarra Division in recent seasons.
PICTURED ABOVE: Steve McCallum being congratulated by his team-mates after scoring a try in Illawarra’s Country Championship
semi-final win over Central Coast, at Dubbo.

WELCOME RETURN TO CLUB ROUND
Parrish Park - Saturday 11th June
First Grade - 3.00 pm
After a two-week break for the C.R.L. rep. matches,
players and club supporters will welcome the
opportunity to return to Illawarra Coal Cup games this
weekend.
Although the representative season is yet to be
completed, after the Illawarra-Newcastle final was
“washed-out” last week. The final has been rescheduled to be played at Camden on Saturday, 25
June.
Our rep. players will still have the opportunity to play
in the final and press for selection in the Country team
to tour Samoa in October.
The two clubs that have received byes either side of
the “break” – Wests and Collegians – will have been
without football for three weeks!
So the Devils will certainly be “ fresh” when they take
on Thirroul at Parrish Park. The Butchers recorded
their second win of the season last start – with a 2916 win over Berkeley.
Premiers Helensburgh will be favoured to register
their first win in the clash with Berkeley, at the ‘Burgh.
However, the Tigers have had five players on rep.
duties in recent weeks, while Berkeley should benefit
from the break.
Undefeated competition leader Dapto will host the
improving Corrimal at Dapto Showground. Four
Dapto and three Corrimal players were in the
Illawarra rep. squad – this could produce the best
game of the round!
Collegians complete their “long break” with this week’s
bye – before returning to play Thirroul in Round 7.

There will be a minute’s silence held before kick-off in
the Wests-Thirroul match at Parrish Park – to respect
the passing of one of the Devils greatest clubmen KEITH
HENNIKER, who passed away this week – aged 84.
Keith came from Cootamundra to join Wests in 1957 and
represented Illawarra in the front-row the same year.
In 1964 he coached a Wests reserve grade premiership
team that included future immortal Bob Fulton and several
others who went on to become stars of the game.
A life-member of Wests, Keith had held every Executive
position on the Rugby League Club; and a managerial
position at Wests Leagues Club for over 30 years.

CLUB OFFICIALS’ RESPONSIBILITIES ON GAME DAY
All clubs are reminded of their responsibilities to the League on match days:
**A Ground Manager must be identifiable near the playing field at all times. Match officials may not commence games until
a Ground Manager and each teams’ Liasion Officer is in place and wearing the appropriate vest.
**Clubs should mark the “Technical Area” around the inter-change benches, as per the Match-day Operations Manual.
**All Leaguesafe Officers/Trainers must display Accreditation Cards on their sleeves.
**Each senior team should have a Level I Trainer available with the team at each game.
**Team match-sheets are to be printed from Leaguenet and taken to the venue by both teams. The player list is to be sorted
by jersey number in ascending order (1-17) – not in alphabetical order of surname. Players listed on the Official Program
must wear their number, irrespective of any positional changes.
