Vegan Billboard Campaign in Bristol in
conjunction with VegfestUK in May
Vegfest back at the SECC in Glasgow on
December 3rd 4th 2016
This year, VegfestUK are creating a series of posters and flyers
which put forward the clear message that veganism means justice
for all. A big part of our marketing campaign will be to launch a big
vegan billboard campaign in Bristol in the weeks leading up to the
UK’s biggest vegan festival at the Amphitheatre on May 21st 22nd
2016.
After a successful and popular first year show on Scottish soil
visited by 7,500 people all braving the challenging weather thrown
up by Storm Desmond, Vegfest is returning to the prestigious SECC
this December! With over 600 people going vegan after the event,
Vegfest is demonstrating its appeal both for vegans and for those
looking for inspirations on going, living, staying and teaching vegan.
Show website to go live in June 2016. Stay tuned to Vegfest Scotland
Facebook / Twitter @VegfestScotland
To enable us to get our posters onto poster sites at bus stops, taxis,
train stations, etc, we need your help with raising funds for this
exciting and groundbreaking project. The thinking pig’s pig Pig
Freud will lead the way in collecting donations at Brighton from
everyone who’s keen on contributing to this first-ever billboard
campaign.
VegfestUK Brighton 2016 visited by
10,700 visitors - back at the Brighton
Centre on March 11th 12th 2017
VegfestUK back at Olympia London
on October 22nd 23rd with over 4,000
sqm extra space!
On the wave of a sell-out show with 12,000 visitors and others who
couldn’t get in because of the capacity of the venue, VegfestUK
have hired a bigger space at Olympia London to accommodate its
increasing number of visitors hungry for information on veganism.
Both the West and Central Halls at Level 1 will be used in 2016 in
conjunction with the Conference Centre at Level 3, amounting to
over 4,000 sqm extra space for our visitors to enjoy! Show website
now live for stall bookings at www.london.vegfest.co.uk

veganism, or a seasoned vegan, VegfestUK events provide plenty
of inspirations for your own vegan journeys as well as vegan

Pig Freud fronts “Vegan - Justice for All”
poster campaign in Bristol
Pink fluffy cartoon superhero Pig Freud - pop star, The FxEctive
Factor contestant and a charity fundraiser for VegfestUK Ltd - has
revealed his new posters for a hardhitting “Vegan – Justice for All”
campaign to appear in Bristol just before VegfestUK Bristol.
Pig Freud chose the Bristol Rovers vs AFC Wimbledon football
match to launch his campaign which will see a large number of
billboards appearing within the Bristol area, with challenging and
clear messages about the use and misuse of animals in our society
today.
The groundbreaking “Vegan - Justice for All” campaign aims to help
stimulate discussion amongst people about the property status of
animals. Should we not be looking at animals as persons, and in
doing so reject the concept of ownership of animals? Is it right that
we should enslave animals for our use and our abuse?’
70 billion land animals are killed every year, and this violence has
got to stop. By going vegan, you’re not only giving justice for animals,
www.vegfest.co.uk
people and the planet, but you’re also improving your health, and
improving the environment, and helping improve sustainable food
production. These are all great things, but the bottom line is we
should go vegan as the very least we can do for animals.
Pig Freud is fronting a crowdfunder appeal to raise funds to launch
a further vegan billboard campaign in Bristol in May 2016, to
coincide with the huge VegfestUK Bristol event on May 21st 22nd at
the Amphitheatre which regularly attracts 15,000 people.
The pig aims to fundraise in and around Bristol over the next 2
months to help see his poster campaign and billboard campaign
extend further and everyone is welcome to help. His crowdfunder
is here:

Marshall Jefferson
Marshall Jefferson is one of the founding fathers of house music
as it is known today. Born in Chicago in 1959, Marshall was a
central figure in the development of the Chicago house scene and
produced seminal house anthems including ‘Move Your Body’, ‘7
Ways To Jack’ and ‘Open Our Eyes’. He has worked with the best
in the business, from fellow founding father Frankie Knuckles to
Roy Davis Jr., Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley, Felix Da Housecat and Lil Louis.
Marshall has had a leading hand in the growth of the acid and
deep house movements and even today continues to evolve these
genres amid dooms-dayers predicting their collective demise.

“After 25 years in the nightspots of the world providing sci-fi beats
for hedonists, and even longer as a consumer of all the best scenes
from glam rock to grime, I am now spurting all my creative juice
into what I call FUTUREWALTZ or 3STEP,” he says. “I realized just
how sexy and groovy the Waltz rhythm can be after hearing its
influence in the folk music of Venezuela. While researching its
origins, I became fascinated and inspired by the history of the Waltz
and its social and cultural significance.”

Performing at some of the UK’s
most prestigious venues (Royal
Albert Hall – Cancer Research,
Dominion Theatre, London –
Royal Variety Performance and
The Grosvenor House Hotel,
London – Rainbow Trust Ball,
Celestine has honed her craft
as a musical performer and
dancer supporting and gracing
the same stages of some of
the biggest names in music
(Pee Wee Ellis, Millie Jackson,
Mica Paris, Sade, Dame Shirley
Bassey, Lionel Richie).
Macka B
Macka.B is one of Britain’s
most influential dancehall
toasters, pushing the music
back toward a Rastafarian
political consciousness. His
rough, gravely vocals give him
an instantly identifiable sound.
Although the vast majority of
Macka B’s material is devoted to
spiritual and social messages,
he also lightens the mood with
perceptive, humorous material.
He has shunned aspirations
for a commercial crossover,
however, staying true to the
sound and spirit of his roots but
playing shows worldwide to
likeminded followers.

has released over 30 albums and over 135 EPs (either under his

Output from Peng and The Rurals has been the focus of four South
Africa-specific collections on Sony’s House Afrika: 2002’s ‘Sunday
Sessions 1’, 2005’s ‘Sunday Sessions 2’, 2010’s 4-CD set ‘House Afrika
Grooves’. 2011’s ‘Kholofelo Remixed’, features a lustrous line-up
of top-notch remixes of his material, no less than eight of which
come from South African producers. And, the “Experience Peng”
tripple pack CD is now available on Universal. Also, watch out for
his newest solo album “Ubuntu” which has hit the streets.

Sabrina Chyld
UK based Singer/Songwriter Sabrina Chyld originally established
her sound from her early musical background and development of
Jazz, Soul and Funk, a fusion that took place over twenty years ago.
This journey took Sabrina’s sound to the unique consciousness
of ‘Low Fat Self Esteem’ and the politically delicate subject matter
of abuse within a relationship & the awareness with ‘Blood on our
hands’, a collaborative body of work with Ronnie Wilson, Wayne
Hernandez and Mark Herman.
www.vegfest.co.uk
Born out of the mid 80’s inspirational Hip Hop scene and the DIY
UK acid house / club scene, Stereo MC’s reputation grew slowly
throughout the late 80’s. They started an underground dance label,
releasing diverse artists from Richie Rich to the Jungle Brothers as
well as their own records before being picked up by Island Records.
They performed live extensively and supported groups such as De
La Soul, A Certain Ratio, EMF and U2 and did US and UK tours with
The Happy Mondays.
After early chart success in America for their second LP
Supernatural, they recorded the Album ‘Connected’ which became
an international hit. They embarked on a huge touring schedule
including memorable appearances at Glastonbury and many other
festivals worldwide. This period culminated with a Mercury prize
nomination and 2 Brit awards for Best Album and Best Live Act.

There’s a breed of artists and
musicians who express truth in their
art, sounds and perhaps their lives.
Artists you can feel life’s pain, love,
concern, passing fancies, mess-ups
and become part of the atmospheres
in which these toil.
Howlin’ Lord is one of these souls. After what is probably his most
accomplished work 2011’s Gold Fury and then the surreal and gut
smashing grit of last year’s bare-bones Breakfast of Champions, It
would seem that H’L would need to cool down. Not this purveyor
of hearty and persuasive noir honky tonk.

Dr. Roger Yates Why vegans should
promote veganism
Dave has been vegan for six
months and an activist for three.
His workshop will discuss how to
be a successful activist and how to
communicate with the public and
your peers.
What’s the most important thing the
vegan movement can do? Get more
active (and ethical) vegans, right?
However, vegans are constantly
being encouraged to support
vegetarian and now reducetarian campaigns. This session argues
that the small numbers of vegans ought to campaign for veganism:
for what we actually want. There are more vegetarians and
reducetarians than vegans: let them do their own campaigning after all, they are unlike to campaign for veganism.

for vegan activism, but how do you
get started? Practical advice on
equipment, content ideas, attracting
subscribers, collaborations and
dealing with anti-vegan comments and “trolls” - working in groups,
you’ll learn how to avoid the mistakes I made during my first year
on YouTube.

Victoria Mesham - Earthlings
experience
I’ll be talking about our demonstration’s we do in Liverpool.
Education is the best form of vegan activism, we simply show
the public up to date UK footage of what happens in slaughter
houses. Wearing white masks to attract people. One person screens
Earthlings which we play on a speaker. We have people speaking
to the crowd, educating them and answering any questions they
have on veganism. We have amazing feedback from these types of
demos.

Public
education
about
the
philosophy of veganism is very
important. One of the best things we
can do as vegan activists is to get out into our communities and talk
to people about the justice-for-all stance of veganism. This session
uses the experiences of two Irish groups (Vegan Education on the
Go and Vegan Information Project) as case studies.

Examining our inter-relationship with animals as we enter
Vegantopia. They deserve lives beyond the enslavement of
rescued pet status, or close confinement in sanctuaries. Nothing
less than dedicated, protected, natural, free spaces with their own
kind, with humans covertly providing food, environment and
essential health care whilst leaving them in peace and rewilded
independence.

Tim Barford - PR and promotion for
vegan campaigns
Tim looks at the importance of promoting vegan activism and
how best to do it....including an examination of the effectiveness
of professional PR campaigns, advertising, blogging and social
media. With 14 years experience of promoting vegan events, and
25 years of promoting the use of hemp, Tim’s talk is geared towards
grassroots vegan activists and especially those planning vegan
events.

Ruth Hawe - Animals and Us:Visioning

Jainism, one of the world’s oldest religions, places great emphasis
on the practice of ahimsa (non-violence). Nearly all Jains are lactovegetarian, with increasing numbers going vegan. This workshop
will provide an overview of Jainism, including the concept of
ahimsa, the Jain diet and the vegan movement within the Jain

Kirly Sue - How To
Become a Vegan
Vegan blogger, TV presenter and
cookbook author Kirly-Sue (aka
Susanne Kirlew) is running seminars
that helps people to make the
transition from eating meat and
fish to veganism, a plant based diet.
This informal interactive seminars
answer questions like:
Do you want to be a vegan but don’t
know how?
Are you bored of eating the same
thing over and over again?
Would you like a list of ten things to
know before becoming vegan?
Do you need a meal planner and some tasty recipes?
Want to know how vegans get their protein?
www.KirlySuesKitchen.co.uk
We all want to spread the word and
encourage more people to go vegan,
but sometimes it can be hard to get
people to listen. So how do we get
our message across and turn those
words into action? In this interactive
workshop, Animal Aid’s Ben Martin
looks at the best ways of reaching
out to people and spreading
the compassionate message of
veganism.

Rights of animals is an area often
overlooked by vegan campaigners,
and especially those within the main
National groups. Tim talks about
effective ways to incorporate a rights
and justice message into vegan
campaigning, and examines the importance of this issue within
a social justice context. Suitable for both National and Grassroots
vegan outreach groups and individuals, and currently often missed
off the agenda.
Dr. Roger Yates Pro-Intersectional
Veganism and

Beata Ciupińska - Awakening
compassion
This presentation will be about compassion towards animals and
human beings and how important it is to be positive, to respect the
people and to believe in the change. Some photos from Awakening
Compassion demos can be found on the We Are The Numbers page
on Facebook: www.facebook.com/we.are.the.growing.numbers
The idea of intersectionality is
certainly creating waves in the
animal movement and beyond. How
can we approach the basic idea that
forms of oppression are interlinked
and entangled and make this a
central part of how we discuss justice-for-all veganism?

Dr. Roger
Yates - An
Introduction to
the Controversial
idea of Animal
Rights
Dean Bracher Speaking in Schools/
Colleges and other
places on veganism
For the last 10 years I have been giving
vegan presentations in educational
facilities. WIth a non judgmental
approach and understanding of the
audience we can really get through a
powerful and thoughtful promotion
of veganism. An informal workshop
that will suit those looking to inspire
others, educate society and move
things forward.
www.vegansociety.com
Tim Barford - The
importance of rights
in a social justice
movement
Andrew Garner - Manchester Pig Save
movement
Manchester Pig Save is the first UK group of the ‘Save movement’.
We hold vigils for pigs being transported to slaughter. By bearing
witness together we expose the suffering of animals that is usually
hidden from view. The goals are to inspire more people to be
compassionate, and go vegan.
www.facebook.com/ManchesterPigSave
www.vegfest.co.uk
No-one in the human rights movement would feel compelled to
say that they are a “rights-based human rights advocate.” That
would sound absurd. However, anyone wanting to make clear that
the philosophy of animal rights is important needs to use a title like
“rights-based animal rights.” This session explores how and why
the animal movement is a philosophical mess. It has been that way
for years yet seems to function adequately. Perhaps there is no
“problem” after all? Does it even matter whether animal advocates
have a philosophical position that guides their words and actions?

Christopher-Sebastian McJetters Veganism is easy...except for when it
isn’t
An honest conversation about circumstances that make veganism
a challenge. How to overcome those challenges in order to stay
vegan. And creating accessibility to help others embrace veganism
as a social justice issue.

over thousands of visitors.
Vegfest Scotland manager Tim Barford added: “Vegan businesses
in Scotland are in a growth area and we are seeing a lot of new
startups in Scotland. It is great to see so many passionate and
creative businesses rocking up at our show. In 2015, at our first
show, we had over 130 stalls and in 2016 we are expecting to see
160 vegan stalls with vegan businesses from across Scotland and
the UK.”
Tim continued: “Over 7,000 people attended the first-ever Vegfest
Scotland in December 2015. This year’s show, on December 3rd 4th
2016 at the SECC, should see us top 10,000 visitors.”
The show website will be live for stall applications in May 2016 with
more information about the event. Small businesses especially
are very welcome to apply. The show is set up with businesses
that are just getting going and looking to grow and reach new

VeggieVision
Yaoh
VeggieVision waited patiently (well not that patiently at times!) for
technology to catch up with their idea and they are now so pleased
to show you the exciting new and improved VeggieVision.TV - the
internet TV station promoting everything fun and positive about
veggie living and more.
VeggieVision TV is packed with fun, interesting and hilarious clips
from all over the world – addressing the fact that here in the UK
there are no veggie/vegan TV programmes.
Thinking of going vegan or just want some healthier options?
Vegetarian or Vegan and need some inspiration?
Then you have come to the right place – VeggieVision TV!
After spending time and money getting a veggie TV programme
off the ground and being told that ”It’s ahead of its time” and too
much of a “niche” market, Karin Ridgers realised that she needed
to think…
“How can I get a positive, veggie friendly TV programme off of the
ground”, rather than “It’s never going to work!” (With many thanks
Tony Robbins, American Peak Performance Coach.)
And she thought of the internet. Well this was before You Tube and
Facebook too!
