Berea’s outdoor pool has a new look
It is peak summer season for the Berea Recreation Department and the best spot to beat the heat and enjoy summer
is the newly updated Outdoor Municipal Pool.
The pool was given a much-needed facelift with all new fencing, new picnic tables and umbrellas, a storage facility
and a revamped concession area next to the new Pavilion, which will be dedicated over the Fourth of July weekend.
Pool passes are on sale at the Berea Recreation Center, 451 Front St. There still are two more sessions of our very
popular Learn to Swim program under the direction of Coach Dave Tressel. The next session gets under way on
July 4. Spots are limited so sign up soon.
The Family & Youth Initiative is hosting Crafts for Kids during the 2:45 p.m. rest break on Tuesdays, July 19 and Aug. 16 in front
of the pool. The program is free. Storytime at the Pool with a staffer from the Berea Branch Library will also be during breaktime
on July 5, July 12, July 19 and July 26.
Again this year we are offering kayak lessons with our partners, Loco Yak Shak. Learn how to maneuver the kayak with professional instructors in the outdoor pool then take a trip on beautiful Coe Lake. If you already know how to kayak, you can rent one for a
small fee on Sundays. If paddle boarding peaks your interest, we have partnered with Shake Fit to offer a variety of paddle-board
activities on the lake.
Remember that the pool is available for rent for parties during the day as well as afterhours. This is a great way to celebrate a birthday! Summer is here for only a short while. Take advantage of these many opportunities.
