Pastor Jim Ozier offered some exceptional training
during the East Ohio Conference this year. I am encouraged for our church, as Jim stressed the importance of having a culture of hospitality. Yes we
are friendly. Yet we have to go as far as it takes to
be sure we connect with people with sensitivity. And
once we are well practiced at connecting with each other and
guests, we can connect to those beyond our walls.
We want to be a church that makes a difference, just as we want
to be people who make a difference and we live in a culture that
longs to make a difference. We just need to invite them to help
us make a difference (Hope’s Closet & Pantry, local & distant
mission, and more) all to the glory of God.
Thus we have a number of things we will work on as we seek to
be salt and light as we are the hands and feet of Christ. Paul directed the believers in Rome to “Practice hospitality.” (Rom.
12:13) that their love would be seen in their actions. May the
love of Christ truly be seen in us.
