CVHN Turns 7
April 22nd!
Since inception in 2005,
we have scheduled over
6,000 appointments and
helped almost 3,000
kids! None of this would
be possible without
you, the community,
being involved. We
want to thank our
volunteer providers,
school nurses, donors,
board members, staff,
volunteers, and all the
community support that
has made the mission
of CVHN come alive.
It’s unfortunate that
we need this service in
our area but we are so
blessed to have such
amazing supporters
within our community.
THANK YOU
for helping us keep
our kids be healthy
and happy!

Exciting things are happening here at CVHN and we
would like to invite you to the grand opening for the
CVHN Dental Clinic on May 4th from 11:30am-1pm!
This free-standing, three chair clinic is dedicated to serving the
uninsured and underinsured children in our area. This would not
be possible without the generous donations of our supporters
who are committed to ensuring all children are able to receive
the restorative dental care they so desperately need. With
secured commitments totaling $23,000 we are on our way to
achieving our fundraising goal of $250,000. But, we need you to
assist us in making this dream a sustainable reality!
In mid February the
Just for Grins

Mobile Dental Clinic traveled
to the annual Sapphire Awards Symposium and
Presentation hosted by the Blue Cross Blue Shield
of Florida Foundation in Orlando. Three mobile
units were invited which were all grantees of the
BCBSF. Just for Grins was part of a session that
showcased Exceptional Practices in Mobile Health.
The attendees had an opportunity to tour the
Mobile Dental Clinic and talk with our staff. It was
an awesome experience to meet others who have
the same mission of providing care for Florida's
at risk children. We are having a great school year
on the MDC. We just finished at West Defuniak
Elementary where we saw a total of 162 children for
x-rays, exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments and
sealants. We sealed 359 teeth on 102 children. We
are looking forward to visiting Freeport Elementary
after Spring Break!

Dr. Cook is a graduate of the University
of Florida College of Dentistry and has
years of experience treating children
in need. She is thrilled to join the
CVHN team and assist in expanding
the mission to reach more children in
need of excellent dental care.
Periodontal bacteria can enter the blood stream and travel to major organs and begin new infections.
A
note from
our founder
"Prayers are the
mortar that hold
our house together."
St.Teresa of Avilla said it best, "Prayers are the
mortar that hold our house together." Those words
come to mind when I see the daily miracles that
continually occur at CVHN. I would add, prayers
not only hold our "house" together, they grow our
house.
CVHN’s fundamental mission is to create an
opportunity for all children to be healthy and happy.
It is a simple concept that requires the help of an
entire community. It has been 7 years since CVHN
helped our first child. Since then thousands of kids
have been assisted with medical, dental, vision
and mental health care. Who could have imagined
the enormity of the need right here in paradise?
Looking back on the past few years, there is the
common thread that prevailed and that is answered
prayers. With answered prayers, we also recognize
the responsibility to be good stewards of God’s gifts
and use His resources wisely.
In April, we will open a freestanding, three chair,
Dental Clinic. Our Mobile Dental Clinic Staff
identified the oral healthcare crisis among the
underinsured and uninsured children in our schools;
we felt compelled to once again take the leap and
help alleviate the pain that so many of these kids
are experiencing. It is a humongous undertaking
requiring a fulltime dentist and staff. The MDC will
continue rolling into its’ fifth year at area schools
this fall and will refer children to the clinic for
restorative work. We will also continue our other
programs as well.
Being a private faith based non-profit CVHN
receives no federal or state funding for any of these
programs. It is supported through our community
wide events, private foundations, organizations
and individuals. CVHN is an answer to prayer for
many of our Okaloosa and Walton County families.
Because of your involvement, their lives will change
for the better. Thank you.
However, CVHN kids continue to need your help
to “grow and fulfill” the mission. Please, keep us in
your prayers, consider a sponsorship or one of the
many gifting opportunities and feel free to share
the CVHN story. After all its your story, too!

Over the course of one year, as little as $50 a month can provide 12 children eye glasses or treat 4
kids on the Mobile Dental Clinic, or send 7 children to the doctor or 7 children to receive mental
health counseling. Help CVHN fulfill its mission to give every child the opportunity to be healthy,
happy and reach their full potential. Make a Child Smile today with a gift to CVHN.
