PLEASE NOTE : A special edition school perserverance bag will be given to the
first people who sign up for school perserverance days…you don’t want to
miss out! (200 French, 50 English available)
Sign-up/registration :

An electronic version of the sign-up sheet will be available on our website
(www.tableeducationoutouais.com) A reminder to sign-up will be sent out
the beginning of October.
Registration will take place from November 1st-December 15th
Healthy work/school balance survey
•
Between October and November, in all secondary school, adult education
centres, as well as in colleges in the Outaouais region, students will be invited
to take part in a electronic survey which aims to gather information on their
employment habits.
This questionnaire will allow us to gain a better understanding of whether or
not our students in the Outaouais region are maintaining a healthy
work/school balance. This will allow key players to better plan interventions
and provide information to students about the importance of balancing work
and school.
Blitz : Saturday November 24th, 2012

What is it? An activity that reaches out to the general population to spread
the word on the importance of school perseverance
How? Volunteers are spread out at various public locations identified by
CAPS where they will share post cards with the public, that discuss the
importance of encouraging our students to stay in school, to persevere and to
not give up until they have obtained a first qualification or diploma.
With who? With all those who see the importance of this worthy cause, we
invite them to give 2 hours of their time on November 24th to hand out post
cards and chat with the public. We would love if students could be invited to
take part as well as it will have an even greater impact.
When can you sign up? At the beginning of October, you can sign up for this
event by contacting the local development agent responsible for your area.

What
School Perseverance Days Launch
• Presentation by our school pereservance
representative, Daniel Coutu
• Presentations by local dignitaries
• Presentation by local school music groups
• Presentation of students who have demonstrated
perseverance
Holiday for students
Conference /performance by Daniel Coutu on the
importance of perservering in our everyday lives. This
presentation will be free for all.
Distribution/presentation of school perserverance
ribbons to students for their determination and
perseverance in all schools. A group photo of these students
will be given to each of the schools. *
Vocational Studies breakfast (participation of CAPS).
Symbolic Walk of 20 minutes honouring school
perseverance. We are proposing that this walk take place
between 1 :15PM and 1 :35 PM. We invite members of the
community (parents, employers, daycares,
college/university students and adult education centres to
take part as well!) **
* Between September and February, schools are invited to identify students who
have demonstrated perseverance. During school perseverance days, schools are
asked to determine a time deemed appropriate, to honour these students with a
school perseverance ribbon and to take a picture of the group.
The picture can then be sent to your local development agent and will be
developped and returned in the weeks following school perseverance days.
** Friday, February 15th we invite everyone to take part in a school perseverance
walk at their school. The goal of this activity is to let everyone know that our schools
believe in the importance of school perserverance. The walk will take place at
each school in the Outaouais bettween 1 :15PM and 1 :35PM.
We encourage you to invite the community to take part in the walk with our
students to increase awareness surrounding school perseverance. If we have a
large number of participants, we are hoping to have the walk recorded in the
Guiness Book of World Records.
Activity Suggestion : Everyone needs a « pat on the back » . To symbolize this
imporant gesture, we invite you to pin, on the back of each walker, the outline of the
hand of an important person in that walker’s life. For example, a student could cut
out and pin the outline of their grandmother’s hand with a message of
encrouragement written on it. We encourage you to use and wear the colours of
perseverance (white and green) for this activity.
“The green and white ribbon symbolizes the commitment to staying in school
and an engagement towards school perseverance. Green stands for youth and
hope. It represents young people, who need to be recognized and acknowledged
to stay in school. White, a blend of all colours represents the community which
contributes to the development of its young people. The intertwining of the two
ribbons illustrates the ties that unite young people and the community. The
loop, open ended, holds the promise of a better future. “
