YOUTH MINISTRY
In March and April of this year, the Diocese of Columbus sponsored
opportunities for Pastors, Principals and other administrators to attend a
workshop on School and Parish Safety and Security. As a result, the Diocese
has asked all parishes to make a review of safety concerns and begin a
process of recommending improvements to the pastors of each parish. To
that end, we have formed a Parish Safety Committee comprised of members
of the parish who have knowledge and experience as peace officers, medical
services, military and other protective services, as well as those who are
ushers and greeters in the parish. The end goal of this committee, as stated
above, is to provide recommendations to me that will assist in providing a
safe environment at our parish.
Thus far, we have met with officers from the Worthington Police Department
and this last Thursday evening, a preliminary meeting was held by members
of the parish as listed above. Please note that we are just in the beginning
stages of the assessment process and no decisions have been made regarding
any specific recommendations. As with many of my brother priests and
pastors, I do not foresee the outcome of this process as hindering the parish
from being a welcoming and friendly parish. I ask that you please pray for
those involved as we move forward. We will be looking in the near future for
more volunteers to assist, and will keep the parish apprised of our progress.
In Christ,
Fr. Anthony A. Dinovo, Jr.

Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
“Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.”
THE ARCHANGEL
– Luke 12:15
The Gospel message today is so contrary to our modern culture where advertising continually tries to convince us that our
value lies in the things we possess. Jesus showed us that our true value lies in the way we live our lives. He challenges us to
not store up or hoard material possessions, but rather to live grateful and generous lifestyles.
WORTHINGTON, OHIO
Stewardship Prayers of the Faithful
That we may remember that the many possessions we strive to acquire are worthless in the eyes of the Lord.
Around the Parish
Praised be Jesus Christ!
I want to personally thank all of the wonderful parishioners of St. Michael for your warm welcome to me this past week.
I am excited to be serving you all as the parochial vicar. As I get to know you all over the next weeks, months and years,
I look forward to walking with you all on our journey towards heaven.
Fr. Dinovo has informed me of the spectacular reputation we have here as a community of faithful that witness to the
Gospel, and I have been able to begin to experience what he was so accurately describing in my very brief time here,
thus far.
We are truly blessed to have the Sisters here with us. Their prayers and example in our community are a tremendous blessing.
A little information about myself…I am from Columbus, I grew up on the far east side of Columbus out by Church of Our Lady, and
eventually we moved to Whitehall, OH. I attended St. Charles Preparatory School for Boys for one year, and then transferred to WhitehallYearling, where I graduated. I enjoyed, and still to this day, enjoy sports. I was able to play basketball and golf in High School and then
Basketball in college. I attended College at the Franciscan University of Steubenville in Steubenville, OH. After I graduated, I began a
career in sales, which eventually brought me down to Houston, TX. My career in sales began to flourish and I eventually got a great sales
job in Industrial Automation. I worked in the industry for three years, and it was in my third year that I began to discern a vocation to
the priesthood. I was confused at first by the fact that as I was working a dream job (for a 27-year-old) that I felt called to something
greater…rather than selling products in the gas and oil industry God was calling me to the priesthood and to sell a product with Eternal
rewards, the Catholic Church. It took another year, but through God’s grace, I said yes. Once I said yes to God, the floodgates of God
opening doors, and truly doing for me what I could not do for myself, began to happen. Seminary was challenging in many ways, but
rewards of persevering through the challenges have been well worth the sacrifices God desired from me. Ultimately God wanted all of
me and He wants all of us to completely surrender ourselves at the foot of the Cross. May God, who is Mercy, continue to bless you all. Please pray for me and all priests. May our Patron, St. Michael’s intercession protect us!
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
Fr. Tim
Have you considered trying Online Giving? Why not?
– Safe
– Convenient (you don’t have to worry about forgetting your
envelopes, vacations, running out of checks, getting cash, etc.).
– Saves money for the parish.
– You have control over your tax records.
– Easy & Fast – Just set it up and it’s done!
Your contributions can continue even when you are unable to come to Mass, which helps the Church budget.
Visit www.saintmichael-cd.org and scroll down to the end of the page, where you’ll find a button that looks like
this:
Then just click on the button and follow the prompts to set up your secure account. You’ll just need: secure Internet access, your
banking information or a credit/debit card, a strong password, and about five minutes of your time. From there, you have complete
control: You can set up recurring payments, one-time gifts, stop/start payments whenever you want, check your total contributions
year-to-date, print your tax information, etc.
Consider Giving Online Giving A Try – If you don’t like it, it’s simple to go back to using envelopes by calling the Parish Office. If you have
any questions, please call the Parish Office at 614-885-7814 or email us at [email protected].
Do you have a group, event, club or gathering that will be needing the use of a room in the church? Now is the time to make your reservations!
Even if you’ve had a long-term reservation in the past, the calendar has been cleared and your group, club, event, gathering, etc., will need
to contact the Parish Office to reserve your space for the 2016-2017 school year and next summer. Thank you to all of the groups who have
already responded!! The parish calendar has been cleared and we are now taking reservations for rooms for your meetings, events, clubs, etc.
Even if you’ve previously had a room or space scheduled on a weekly or monthly basis, you must call and confirm that your group is still in need
of the space and verify the times. This includes the Upper Meeting Room, Lower Meeting Room, Marian Hall, Undercroft, St. Michael Room and
St. Raphael Room. Please email Kelly Nasdeo at [email protected] to make your reservations or call the Parish Office at 614-885-7814.

with any questions. As always, we thank you for
helping us help others.
You want to get involved
and here’s the perfect way!
September 2nd – 3rd – 4th
Volunteer sign-ups will be coming soon for those who want to sign up to help with the
annual St. Michael Festival. But right now, we need a few who are willing to go the extra
mile and serve as a chairperson/people for the following:
– Silent Auction (air-conditioned) – Food Court (in the middle of the action) – Midway Games (in the middle of the action)
This is a great job to do as a couple. If you’re interested in learning more about what each one entails, please contact Festival Chairman
Brett Gissel, at [email protected] or 614-805-1443. It’s a wonderful way to really get involved with your parish by working hard
and having fun, too. Call or email now!
SILENT
AUCTION DONATIONS
Please help make the Festival Silent Auction a success by donating any new merchandise or
gift cards. No gift is too small – our volunteers are very good at combining items into themed
baskets. Please place any donations in the pink tub in Marian Hall from now until August 31st.
For safekeeping, expensive items can be dropped off in the office or can be picked up by auction
workers. Please contact Elaine Damo (614-256-9853 or [email protected]) to arrange for a
pick-up or if you have any questions. Thank you for your support!
