Sentara Neuroscience Conference:
Challenges in Neuroscience Care
6015 Poplar Hall Drive
Norfolk, Virginia 23502
Program Overview: This one day conference will review leading edge
advances in the care for neuroscience patients with an emphasis on the challenges
faced today, both at the level of individual clinical scenarios and at a health care systems
perspective. Updated information will be provided on medical and interventional
management of acute stroke, treatment of other neurological emergencies including
status epilepticus and acute neuromuscular weakness, new paradigms on surgical
approaches to intracerebral hemorrhage, and issues related to anoxic brain injury.
Discussion will include the approach to selecting disease modifying therapy in multiple
sclerosis, challenging cases in neuropsychology, the elusive postural orthostatic
tachycardia syndrome, the approach to tremor, and examining system-level quality
improvement for the neuroscience patient in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
