• Stabilizethet-shirtfrontnecklineareawithaspraystarchorstarchalternative,followingmanufacturer’sinstructions.
• UseFusibleNo-ShowMeshStabilizerinconjunctionwithHydro-stick™Tear-awayStabilizer.First,stabilizetheentirewrongside
ofthepiecedfabricwithFusibleNo-ShowMeshStabilizer.Next,usetheHydro-stick™Tear-awayStabilizerratherthanhoopingthe
fabric.Simplyhoopthestabilizerandadherethefabrictothestickyareaofthestabilizer.Economizebyusingstabilizeronaroll.
Insteadofcuttingthestabilizertothesizeofthehoop,keepthestabilizerontherollwhenyouhoop.Afterembroideringthefirst
section,carefullytearawaythefabricfromthestabilizer.Givethestabilizeraquickpresstosmoothoutthewrinklesfromthefirst
hooping.Thenrehoopthenextsectionofstabilizerandcontinueembroidering.
• HelpfultipsforembroideringwithLanaandCotonaThread:
-Usetherecommendedsize100topstitchingneedlesfortheLanathread.Size90embroideryneedlesarerecommendedforthe
Cotonathread,butwedidn’talwaysremembertoswitchtoa90andtheCotonadidstitchwiththesize100.
-Slowthemachine’sstitchingspeedtoitsslowestsetting.
-Loosentheupperthreadtensionslightly,ensuringthebobbinthreaddoesn’tpulltoomuchLanathreadunderthefabric.
-Ifyourmachinehasanautomaticthreadtrimmingfeature,youmaywishtoturnitoffand“hand-trim”.ThiskeepsLanathread
endsfrombuildingupinthetrimmingmechanism.
-Atthebeginningofeachthreadstitching,holdthethreadtailontopofthehoopedfabric;takeafewstitches,thentrimthetail
closetothefabric.Thishelpskeeptheundersideoftheembroideryneatandlessensthechanceofthreadnests.
-Cleanoutthemachine’sbobbincaseandsurroundingareawellandoften.Wewereamazedtofindhowquicklythelintbuiltup.
Anytimethethreadbroke,wemadecertaintoremovetheembroideryhoopfromthemachineandcarefullycleanthebobbin
area.Weevenfoundlintbuiltuparoundthebobbinthreadwhereitdrawsfromthebobbincase.Keepyourowner’smanual
handytoproperlycleanyourmachine.
• Alldesigncomponentsarepicturedonthefollowingpages.Use
theseimagesasguidesforplacementofdesigns;dependingonthe
sizeorstylevariationoftheknittoppatternyouareembroidering,youmaywishtoenlargeoradjustpositions.Thegrouping
indicatestheorderinwhichthevariousdesignsmakingupthat
groupingshouldbestitched.
• Designplacementtip:Toensureproperplacementofdesigns,werecommend
thatyouprinttemplatesforeachofthedesignsusedandarrangetheembroidery
designsontotheknittopfront.Althoughyoucanuseconventionalprinterpaper
toprinttemplates,usingTranslucentFoundationPaperallowsyoutoseethrough
thepaper,makingiteasiertoalignthedesigns.PositionandtapethetemplatesinplacewithSewer'sfix-ittape.
Thelowtackadhesiveallowsthetapetoberemovedeasilywithoutleavingadhesiveresidueonthefabric.Besuretotrimaway
excesspaperaroundthestitchfieldforeasierarranging.
• Afterembroidering,constructtheremainingpartsoftheknittopfollowingpatterninstructions.
• FinishingTip:Placetheembroideryfacedownonapaddedironingsurface.Gentlypressthedesigns.
