GENNEX
For furling asymmetrical sails (gennakers)
top-down. The sail is furled from the top around
a free-span furling axle. This ensures that large
sails can always be hoisted and dropped safely
- even with a small crew. Furled sails can be
stored quickly and easily.

Contrary to top genoas, the luff does not need
to be reinforced because the individual cut
of the sail creates a curved luff. The sail
is furled arround a separate free-span
low torsion rope, starting furling at the
top. This means that a GENNEX system
can also be used to furl existing gennakers.
The furling mechanism will only
work when the low torsion rope is
placed under high tension, which
is why the rope length should
always be measured under
load to prevent the halyard
from touching the roller
box on the mast. The tack
of the sail is bent onto a
separate tack swivel
above the furler, making this the very last
part to furl.

Special thimble with whipping

The head of the sail must be attached with a sling through the
loop hole in the thimble.
Anti-twist sheath
Gives the low torsion rope the
possibility to do some turns back
after the furling operation, without jamming the sail.
Moreover, the sheath creates a
wider furling axle, which allows
sails to be furled/dropped quicker.

Double benefit: Gennex reefing systems are used for gennaker and Code0! Instead of the anti-torsion rope the
reinforced luff of a Code0 is connected. The tack swivel is inoperable and the tack sling must be removed.
