Once again, the Manassas Moose Legion is sponsoring the annual Manassas Moose Lodge Race
to Vegas – Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament. This is the 4th year in a row and each year it
just gets better. The competition runs for 22 weeks (7 June – 1 Nov) with the final round being
played 8 November. The poker tournaments are held every Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm in
the Social Quarters. There is No Buy-in, No Pay-out, and the grand prize is a free trip to Las
Vegas. Each Saturday afternoon, the 1st and 2nd place winners of that day’s tournament secure
a seat in the final round to play for a five-day, four-night stay at the Golden Nugget Hotel and
Casino to compete in the Annual Moose International Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament (January 2015). Win first or second place in the final round and the Manassas Moose Legion will pay
for your round-trip flight to Las Vegas, your hotel stay, and your entry fee into the Moose International poker tournament. Come join in on the food, drink, fun, and excitement each Saturday afternoon and win “your” seat at the final table. You must be a member in good standing to
play in the tournaments.

WOW! What a conference in Las Vegas. This conference was a little different from the ones in the past. Moose
members were sent out in mass to volunteer in Vegas at Blood Drives, Food Banks, Community Gardens and
so much more. We were reminded at every meeting that it is time for our Lodges and members to get Back to
the Basics. The Moose was founded on Basic Principles and it has to get back to them or it will fade away like so
many fraternal organizations have. We were all reminded that charity begins at home. Meaning MooseHeart and
MooseHaven- but we need to remember our local charities as well. So lets all get invovled! If you have some free
time and want to help out, grab a board member and tell them you are interested :) Remember many hads make
light work!

A message from our Govenor Dennis Rossi:
Well hello there. We will give this a try. Please be patient with me as I get this started.
I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I am Dennis Rossi and I have been elected Governor of the Manassas Moose Lodge. I would like to Thank the outgoing Board of Officers for all of
the effort and time they have given to our Lodge. They have been and will remain a huge part of our
fraternity. Between volunteering in the Kitchen, friday nights, wednesday nights and breakfasts we
have put in a huge amount of hours. Those nights and Sundays are a success because of all of the
time volunteered.
It is also important to remember the other members who volunteer and participate in the functions
held at our lodge. By coming to dances, the social quarters and supporting our fundraisers you have
all helped put Manassas on the map. Let’s keep her there!
The new Board is faced with new challenges this year. Membership is a big factor in the success of
our organization. We are always being challenged to grow our membership. The key to growing our
membership is to make it a strong membership. We have to remember that we are a Family Center .
If you sign up a member - think about if you would bring them into your family. Do they fit in and
do they know the background behind the Moose and our fraternity?
Sincerely,
Dennis Rossi
A message from the Senior Regent:
It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you my name is Theda Smith and I am the new Sr. Regent at
Manassas chapter 1392.I know this is late getting to you, but better late than never.
We have a lot going on the next few months, but first i’d like to take a minute to tell you a little about
our bake sale we had our first bake sale on July 1st and it was a big hit so now we plan on a bake
sale the first Friday of every month, So if you have a sweet tooth as we all do at times come on out
August 1st. and join us for some fun and some sweets.
We also have a Family carnival coming up in September, games food an of course we will have a
dime pitch which brings the kid out in all of us, so if you are cleaning out your cabinets and you
have any dishes you no longer need we sure could use them for the dime pitch.
We have a co-ed softball game coming up in October we will also be having a home run derby to. we
will have hot dogs hamburgers and drinks and its open to all Lodges so come join us in October.
We are also planning on having lo ball in October and again in November. We also offer breakfast
every 2nd and 5th Sunday of every month.
Sherry Garlem got her College of Regents Degree in Las Vegas, but Sherry can’t talk about it because
what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Congratulations to you Sherry.
