Special Building Features Lightning protection throughout the perimeter, rooftop, electrical and mechanical support infrastructure Entrance requires badge and biometric authentication or security escorted entry Sensor-driven cameras watching every door, aisle, cage and cabinet, NOC, NODE and other secure support rooms Steel structural supports and concrete walls Leak detection system Building is rated to withstand hurricane-force winds Grounding connections on all posts, cages, and cabinets 24-hour physical security monitors all cameras, door positions and badge access areas Lobby Redundant off-site monitoring of all security systems Camera on each doorway 24-hour physical security monitors all cameras, door positions, and badge access areas Door entrance to data center requires a badge for entry Redundant off-site monitoring of all security systems Facility is located on a primary power grid in close proximity to the local power substation Door entrance to data center requires a badge and biometric authentication for entry 24-inch raised floor provides static pressure cooling from below to ensure efficient and effective cooling of computer equipment Biometric hand scanner verifies unique hand geometry image and a heat signature before allowing entry into data center Camera on each doorway Charlotte Uptown Data Center | 2 Cage/Cabinet HVAC Cage requires unique laser-etched keys with magnetic signatures N + 1 configuration ensures redundant standby units are always available Windstream Hosted Solutions maintains control of all keys and access to cages and cabinets require an escort from security personnel Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) units are positioned around the data center in a perimeter cooling model to ensure adherence to strict temperature and humidity thresholds Strong sheet metal cages with no hand and foot holds are available for larger deployments Electrical 2N or System Plus System Power design Redundant utility transformers, generators, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), main switch panels, Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) and Power Distribution Units (PDU) Power distribution consists of an A-side and B-side methodology with each side of the power infrastructure having the capacity to support full facility load in the event of failure Dual sourced PDUs are fed from both the A-side and B-side power infrastructure and can automatically switch to an alternate power source in the event of failure All customer cabinets are fed via diverse dualsourced PDUs Fully redundant 1.75 Megawatt diesel generators, regularly tested, for added protection More than seven (7) days of generator power on-site Indefinite run time with refueling (36 hours of continuous operation without refueling with current load) Leak detection and sensors ensure no moisture gets in the data center Separate and further redundant cooling systems for critical support areas Building Management Systems Continuum building management system with onsite and remote monitoring and control of all HVAC, generators, UPS systems and switchboards, as well as other mechanical systems Security Cameras Cameras digitally record all movement in and around the data center Four (4) pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras watch all perimeter areas Separate cameras focused on all exterior doorways DVR retention of all security footage for a minimum of one year Access Control Card access control throughout space Biometric access required to enter the data center Generators are locked within sound-attenuated enclosures and monitored by cameras; critical functions are remotely monitored within data center Only Windstream Hosted Solutions employees hold biometric access to the data centers Facility is located on a primary power grid in close proximity to the local power substation Windstream Hosted Solutions controls all keys to cage and cabinets within the data center to ensure strict key control All customers are escorted to their cage and cabinet To learn more about how your business can benefit from the Charlotte Uptown Data Center, contact a Windstream Representative at 855.282.5002.
