Dr. Rachel E. Brown, of the
Division of L a b o r a t o r y and Res e a r c h , New York S t a t e D e p a r t ment of Health, will speak on " W a r

P r i v a t e Dining Room of B r u b a c h e r
Hall.
Her talk will be sponsored jointly by Student Affiliate A . C S . and
the Biology Club.
Refreshments
will be served. All interested students are invited.
Canterbury
Mr. Russell Field, organist and
c h o i r m a s t e r of St. A n d r e w's
Church, Albany, will speak on
" M u s i c and the L i t u r g y " at the
Sunday evening meeting at 6:00
p . m . in St. A n d r e w ' s parish hall.
Mr. Field h a s held his present
post for the past thirteen y e a r s .
A native of Guelph, Ontario, he
h a s witnessed the publication of
several of his s a c r e d choral numb e r s , one of which, a C h r i s t m a s
motet, h a s achieved r a t h e r wide
acceptance.
In addition he lias
conducted a class in church music
in St. A n d r e w ' s School of Religion.
All interested p e r s o n s are invited
to attend.
Presbyterians
The P r e s b y t e r i a n Student Group
will h e a r a discussion entitled
"How Not to R e a d the Bible," led
by the R e v e r e n d Laski Sunday
evening. Vespers will be held at
6 p . m . followed by supper and the
discussion. All s t u d e n t s are welcome to attend.
Hillel
Hillel will hold its annual Chanukah P a r t y and D a n c e this Sunday
at 5 p.m. at Oddfellow's T e m p l e ,
281A Washington Avenue. The affair is open to all. T h e r e will be

The Oral I n t e r p r e t a t i o n Class
will hold an Oral Interpretation
E v e n i n g on T h u r s d a y , D e c e m b e r
14, at 8 p.m. in D r a p e r 349.
The t h e m e for the p r o g r a m will
be " W i n t e r . " This will include
selections about the winter season
and C h r i s t m a s .
The e v e n i n g ' s p r o g r a m is being
planned and presented by several
m e m b e r s of the Oral Interpretation class, Speech (52, instructed by
Mr. Wilkie.
Students are reminded that
C o m p a r a t i v e L i t e r a t u r e 10: An
Introduction to the Literature
of India, is to be offered during the spring s e m e s t e r , 1962.
The course will be given in
D-200, Monday, Wednesday and
T h u r s d a y at 9 a.m.
The background of Indian
culture will be presented in
order to give a d e e p e r insight
into the s t r e a m of literary creative in India. This course will
be a p r e r e q u i s i t e for other
courses on Indian literature
which will be given next year.
Mr. Rao, who gives the
course, m a k e s use of document a r y films obtained from the
Indian consulate.

will discuss and catechize Primer
poetry, past - present - future. Mr.
Collins will read from an article
which he contributed to the Penguin an attempt in 1957 to supplant the P r i m e r .
There will be two issues of the
P r i m e r this year.
The deadline
for the manuscripts submitted for
the first issue is J a n u a r y 10th.
The object of these informal faculty talks is to acquaint the student body with the organization.
We feel there are too many students who do not know what trie
P r i m e r is, or even that there is a
literary magazine on c a m p u s .
The major problem the P r i m e r
faces is how to put out two issues
with a one issue budget. Almost
all the other State Universities
put out quarterlies. Oneonta, an
obscure mountain school has two
grand alloted. We are alloted
about half that sum and our
school's enrollment doubles Oneo n t a ' s . Refreshments will be served
at the expense of the editors.
