Featuring Pace and Race Cars
Hello! Thank you for your interest in the Iola Old Car Show.
As you read through this letter and our registration form, please be mindful that all the
changes we make are done with the intention of improving the Iola Old Car Show so that
it continues to be one of the Midwest’s premiere car collector and hobbyist experiences.
Returning participants will notice many changes to this registration form, some of these were
made in direct response to participant comments and some were made in conjunction with
our insurance carrier. I’d like to explain some of these changes, and our reasons for making
them.
We have teamed with Discover Wisconsin to launch an improved website,
www.iolaoldcarshow.com, with the intention of better, more timely communication with the
public. We want you to know what improvements we’re working on, special exhibits you can
expect to see, and offer you “sneak peaks” at some of our Theme Vehicles as they register.
This new website will also allow our volunteers to access work projects and opportunities as
they arise.
As I’m sure you’ve seen throughout your daily life, prices are on the rise. This impacts the
Iola Old Car Show, too. Our wholesale food prices, insurance costs, and overall operation
expenses have all risen. We are doing our best to keep our costs down for our visitors and
participants; we want the Iola Old Car Show to be an event that you can afford to enjoy with
your family. That being said, you will notice price increases this year. You will also notice
improvements on the grounds. We need to continue to improve the grounds, our operating
procedure and our image so that we can compete on the national scale with other large
hobbyist events. I hope you’ll see that we are doing so, and that we are striving to make your
experience pleasurable.
One last large change you’ll notice is that Sunday is no longer advertised as a show day.
We have been considering, and trying to avoid, this change for a number of years. Years ago,
Sunday was a day of high attendance by participants and spectators; there was much to see
and do on the grounds. That isn’t the case any longer. Now, Sunday seems to be considered
a travel day that a majority of our participants want to use for family time, churchgoing, and
preparation for their work week. We do not want to give the public an impression of “the show
as normal” on this day when, in reality, they would not be seeing our best representation. The
Iola Old Car Show staff WILL be on the grounds on Sunday; we will continue to operate the
Main Food Stand for the participants who choose to stay. For us, Sunday will be used to wrap
up the weekend. We look forward to having a great official end to the show with Saturday
evening’s Lobster Fest serving 4-8 pm.
Please continue to check our website to stay informed about Iola ’15. Like us on Facebook,
too: Iola Old Car Show!
Looking forward to seeing you at Iola ’15,
Joan Schultz
