It’s February Already!
Thanks to everyone who made our January Party Great! Sorry if you missed it, we really did have a
good time. The parties are for Your Enjoyment, please make plans to attend and bring a friend. (We
had 11 members join or re-up. Thanks!)
 Valentine Party
 Spotlight on
In an effort to keep things exciting and fresh we have scheduled our February Party at a venue that has
approached us some time ago. It is Murray’s Restaurant located at 413 East New Hope Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534. This will be our Valentines Party and Murray’s will be serving a Baked Spaghetti Dinner
with Salad. (Members may bring desserts.) Murray’s now has all ABC Permits. Keith Waller will be our
DJ for the event. Everyone is invited. The entry fee is $10.00 per person- meal included. The date is
Saturday, February 21, 2015. Please plan to be there. We are trying some changes this year to create
excitement and provide growth possibilities for the Club. Please support these efforts and give your
feedback to any member of the Board.

More good news, there are opportunities to dance near-by! The Elks Club 1st and 3rd Friday Night will
begin again March 6th. Mr. Wayne Carlyle will be spinning the Tunes. Wayne has 40 years of experience
in radio broadcasting including 23 years at 95.1 (WRNS) and 4 years at Oldies 107.9 (WNCT-FM). He
has 30 years of experience in private parties and clubs and is currently Radio Broadcast/ Public Speaking Instructor at Lenoir Community College in Kinston.

Other notable opportunities are present. SAMCO (Sampson County Shag Club) meets the first Friday
night, (Feb. 6th) at Coharie Country Club in Clinton, NC.
HASA (Harnett Area Shag Association) meets the second Friday night, (Feb. 13 th) at the Shrine Club in
Dunn, NC.
ENCSC (Eastern North Carolina Shag Club) begins a new venue this Sunday at 1920 Smythewyck
Drive, Greenville, NC 27858. That’s Feb. 8th, from 6PM-10PM.
We also have 2015 S-O-S Cards available. They are $30 each and good for all 2015 S-O-S Events.
Thank you for helping Sugarfoot be one of the best clubs around! If you are not a member, consider

January 12, 2015
Sugarfoot Shag Club January Party will be
January 24 at the Goldsboro Elks Lodge.
During January, there is a half-price Membership Drive and for those who join the Club
at the January 24 Party, admission to the January Party is free.
Thinking of You cards were sent to: Dickie
Lane, Hazel Moseley (back surgery) and Nancy
Reeves (knee surgery). Flowers were sent to
Seymour Funeral Home for Mike “Shagdaddy”
Overman’s funeral service. Sympathy card
was sent to Mike’s son, Stacy Overman. Sympathy card was sent to Thomas Price upon the
death of his brother. Thank You note was
sent to Lewis Herring for preparing food for
the Christmas Party and for sponsoring half of
the Attractions Band cost. Thank You, Lewis!

Sugarfoot Shag Club February Valentine Party will be
held February 21 at Murray’s Restaurant. Keith Waller will be DJ. Spaghetti Dinner will be provided.
Luke Vail will advertise the party on his 107.9FM Sunday radio show and give away a free ticket to the
party on two Sundays in February.
The Social Committee is working on the 2015 Social
Calendar. The Committee is planning a variety of
locations for the 2015 parties; parties and DJs are
being booked through May. February at Murray’s;
March at Elks Lodge; April at Lane Tree Country
Club; May at Elks Lodge. There are also changes being discussed for the 2015 annual fundraiser event;
this year, it will be in November instead of May; the
Social Committee and the Board of Directors want
the fundraiser event to be extra special this year.
A Comment Box will be present at each party to
gather member feedback on the various party venues.

for the 2015 May Madness fundraiser event;
the Social Committee and the Board of Directors want the May Madness event to be extra
special this year. Raffle tickets may be printed
earlier to allow members more time to sell
them prior to the event.

Kim Wells name was placed in nomination for the
next Board of Directors opening; Board members
serve staggered terms and change in June-July each
year – following vote by General Membership.

Sugarfoot Shag Club is participating in the Spring SOS
multi-club party at Pirate’s Cove, April 23 1:00pm 5:00pm. There are seven participating clubs this year.
